Maybe it's just me, but maybe you recognise this situation:
You enter the cockpit for the first strech of your duty. It seems your colleagues had some turbulence because there is coffee all over the side panel where the coffeeholder is, well there is even some coffee on the pedestal! The floor, and your seat, are covered with breadcrums and behind the nav back there's a half open package of peanuts...Is this really the way to leave "the office" behind? What about just a little cleaning during and after the flight?
Just a little? How is this in other companies? If someone borrowed your car would you want it back the way you leave the cockpit behind for your colleagues? Or are you a "cleaner" yourself?

Capt. Googly,
I understand your frustration. Some people are just a little more thoughtful of others , but then, maybe some of these guys believe that the cabin cleaning crew will take care of it before you have to sit in it. You may to check - they could be accidentally offending you.

If it is my own car I will tell you I don't like it.
But when I rent a car I do the same thing for 2 reasons.
1. The car goes to the cleaning dept. anyway before rented again.
2. I'm a pilot therefore I'm lazy.

At some airlines the cleaning crew is not allowed in the cockpit of an empty aircraft cause they have a tendency to check what that switch / button / lever will do. (or in some extreme cases drive the plane into the terminal building).

Before being honoured to be flightcrew I worked as a cabin cleaner for an airline and when the a/c was cleaned for the last time in the day we had to clean the cockpit totally.
However the airline I now work for does not seem to have it done and I know for a fact that many airlines do not allow anybody in the flightdeck so therefore it can not be cleaned.
