Rumour has it, that KLM's 737 fleet will be sold. Nowadays the european flights only cost money, so the partners better fly these routes.

The rumour is false. KLM 737's will be operated by Cityhopper starting 15th June 2001 (so technically still KLM). Cockpit 737 will be offered a choice... either work for Cityhopper (on Cityhopper pay/cao) or face the consequences.. this according to ongoing cao negotiations that were held last week.

Management decided that with all the different cockpits the training costs for flightcrew and maintenance costs for different parts are too high. So the long term plan for fleet commonality with airbus 319/320/321/330/340 will be implemented. The newer 737-800 and 900 will go to Transavia.
Which will become a KLM-leisure airline and will operate all the holiday destinations. They also will receive the ex-AirHolland airplanes from troubled MartinAir. All Cityhopper and KLM European pilots can bid and fly the mini-busses on the new single seniority list. The ETOPS problem is solved by Airbus philosophy to use four engines on really long flights. The 767, MD-11, 747-300's will be sold. KLM will keep some 747-400's for dense traffic routes. The 747-300 freighters will go to Martinair which will become an almost exclusive freighter outfit, excluding Atlas from flying our freight. All this to credit Mr. van Wijk excellent views on the modern airline philosophy. We all know KLM management's impressive long term strategy making skills and implementing abilities. O yeah, ... we will also get to jump-seat on all Dutch aircraft for free !!!

Rumours, Rumours and even more Rumours... too bad you can't rely on them!
Perhaps it's useful and good for the credibility to name the source of this kind of information...?

DutchPeter,
of course but then you should read the "Wolkenridder" Obviously not all rumours are going to happen, but it was on this bulletin board 2 weeks before the KLM/BA tals ended that somebody said that talks between swissair and KLM may interfere... Of course nobody would mention his name while saying this at that time, but I do like reading these rumours! And probably you heard also what happened to JdeB when he submitted some statements on the flightweb..
Best regards,
( how do you like my signature?)

I heard that KLM's sister company 'buzz' are likely to get some more 733's to complement their fleet of 2 (so far). Buzz are doing really well and are above target for sales set by the KLM board.

Personally I don´t really mind in what type aircraft the jumpseat is as long as I can use it.....

I heard that Buzz is REALL REALLY interested in acquiring Go.
That would make for one awesome low-cost operator, with vast coverage of Europe !
I hope this really does happen

I heard that KLM have made a bid for GO. The plan would be to keep it GOing and dispense with BUZZ cos the former is closer to making profits. The BAe146s would return to KLM-UK.
