THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME:
In another airline pax travel horror story,
an estimated 150 people spent the night in the Des Moines (Iowa)
International Airport Terminal earlier this month. American Trans Air
Flight 155 from Chicago, Ill., to Las Vegas, Nev., diverted to Des
Moines due to a sick passenger. Once the sick passenger disembarked,
the flight crew realized that mechanical problems would ground the
aircraft for the rest of the night. This is where the fun started.
The entire planeload of people was led into the airport terminal, which
had already closed for the night. Passengers complained that they had
no food or water and were upset at the lack of sleeping facilities,
using the terminal's floor as the next best thing. Passengers were
quick to add that the flight crew made their own arrangements for the
night ... at a nearby hotel.
