I am a 24 year old flight instructor with about 575TT and 100 multi, I am in the southern Ca area, but willing to re-locate to wherever, I have been out of avation for about 4 months, and the flight instruction market in san diego is DEAD. My goal is the airlines but I am willing to look at any path open right now.. if anyone has any ideas of where to go to pick up a lot of hours (and be able to pay the bills) or an airline that I may meet the requiremnts for (I went to flight safety) please let me know.
Thanks,
Dave

Try the Minneapolis area or some little putter transport places.
I know there were some in the Minnesota area hiring.........

If you want a lot of hours, Look at Air Desert Pacific located at Brackett Airport. I went there with 240 hours and 0 multi. In a year and 1 month I had 1345 hours with 437 multi, and a job with Mesaba. Although the part of paying the bills I dont know. When I was there I made $10 a flight hour. They may have bumped it up a little bit by now.

With that little of time the only company I can think of that will touch you is Great Lakes Airlines.

I worked for National Air for about a year. (around 1989). They were in Riverside, Calif. Cargo feeding for UPS and Airborne Express in a CASA 212. The training was in riverside but the actual line-flying was all over the country with different bases. Not a particular beautiful airplane but over 12500 lbs. (17000 I believe), minimum crew of 2, turboprops, and short t/o-ldg which is kinda fun. Don't know if they still exist. Later they did some work for MAC (Military Air Command) which I wasn't allowed since I'm not a US citizen.
I got hired with ±2000 hrs but almost no multi. Maybe you ought to drive by and knock on some doors. Good luck.

i would second this... i have a home next to brackett field and ADP is BUSY... mostly foreign students... be aware that ADP doesn't have the most sterling reputation on the airport... this is not through personal experience but in talking to several people who have dealt with them...

LOL........That is the truth about ADP. Brings back good memories. If you do decide to fly at Air Desert you have to be careful not to push things too far. But again it is a lot of flying, and good flying at that. There are a lot of foriegn students working from Private all the way to Multi-Commercial Instrument in a short amount of time.

PS hey 737 Captain, You wouldnt know Steve Holmes. A TWA captain that does check rides out of Cable.
