I wasnīt sure in what forum to put this topic, but since it also affects us groundies here is a little thing to (maybe) think about:

After the tragic events of tuesday 11th in which thousands of people lost their lives, as a consequence (?) of this barbaric act we now see our industry confronted with huge cost reductions, a/c withdrawn from service and tens of thousands of people loosing their job.

I find it hard to believe that within a week after the attacks all these major airlines have their plans for reductions more or less ready.
Might I be correct and think out loud by saying, they were planning some cutbacks already, but with the aftermath of the attacks (Which no doubt had an effect on pax bookings and confidence) havenīt these airlines found the perfect scapegoat in these attacks?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but usually it takes, at least weeks if not months, for the airlines to workout ( in collaboration with trade unions or even goverments) how many people have to fear for there jobs.

I dont want to sound like a troublemaker just a tought that crossed my mind.

NWA had already closed a res office and an F/A base in ORD I think...as well asked for voluntary leave from several groups.... Now that this dispicable act occured... it is an even better excuse "scapegoat" to make even more cuts.....
