Some cabin crew operating on BA's 777 fleet have been complaining of ill health while on duty. Crews operating on this aircraft type are also licensed to fly on 747's. The ill effects noted when flying on the 777 include
nausea, dizziness, and a disorientation.
Has anyone else out there experienced such symptoms when operating a different aircraft?
The above symptoms do not arise from a boozy lay over, and are quite genuine. Any ideas ?

Yes! Big time! On the A320. After two legs, I am dizzy, disoriented and completely exausted after two legs. In fact, I have gotten physically ill on the A320.

What's the deal with the 777s and Airbuses? http://www.crewstart.com/ubb/images/icons/confused.gif

I defenitely think that the amount of oxygen we get on these aircrafts is below what is acceptable. I don't have any figures, but I think the airlines will not give them, because it's a lot cheaper with less oxygen. Are there any technicians who can explain a bit more about this topic??

As far as i can recall it, the amount of oxygen (or better the supply) in the cabin is higher at row 1 than on lets say row 20 or 30. The highest amount of oxygen seems to be in cockpits. Unsufficient oxygen supply has probably to do with the fact, that the cabinpressure during a flight is set at around 2000m or around 6000ft,can eventually be higher on long distance flights with higher flightlevels. You are right, its definetely not enough, thats why we feel exhausted and dehydrated.
But there might be some technicians around , who can answer that much better and correct me if i'm wrong.

:-(

The 777 is the worst aircraft to work on regarding air quality. At least once every flight a pax faints, and we use 1 bottle of O2 on every flight it seems. There is a great deal of carbon monoxide in the air due to the recirc fans that the pilots hate to shut off. Easy for them in a 100% fresh air cockpit to say the bad air is our 'imagination'.

Hi Fellow Crew
I can not speak for the wide-bodies but I believe there has been an ongoig problem with the BAe146. Something to do with the APU fumes. Symptoms have been dizziness, feelings of walking on uneven soft surfaces, headaches, nausea etc. There was a interesting article about it writen in an aviation magazine but I can not find it. Have you heard similar stories from this A/C type?

No problem at all with the 777. Ours are new though, so maybe something has been improved.

I worked years ago on the BA146, and I can confirm that after one short leg you feel like after a long haul.
I find unconfortable the A320 too, also known as "the flying tamagochi"
