Hi Belg1972,
Be especially aware of your non-verbal communications during the day!!!
I believe it´s a lot more important HOW you say things, than WHAT you´re saying exactly.
Be the friendly & caring person that you are.
Best of luck...

In Belgium we might have other gestures and expressions than in the Netherlands... this will be a heavy day for me....

As a male, be very polite for the girls...offer them coffee, open the door for them etc. When you do this, you see the people write.. When hired you never have to do this again!! http://www.crewstart.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif

Anyway thanks all, for your information http://www.crewstart.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif)
- one of the remarks I still don't get very well is "that I don't fit in the profile of a flight attendant..." http://www.crewstart.com/ubb/images/icons/confused.gif What am I than doing since the last 4 years? Amazing how recruiters have to make these selections.

Well, the way KLM reacted simply shows you did not lose anything and that you deserve better! there is worse! "one airline" (I won't mention the name...) asked me to have a language test....in my native language!! http://www.crewstart.com/ubb/images/icons/shocked.gif the excuse was that "some people have pretented in the past,..." my passport and accent were not enough for them!!!and the other thing is that I had been flying for that airline for 2 years then!!! ...are you looking for a job around Europe of further? anyway good luck to you http://www.crewstart.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif

http://www.crewstart.com/ubb/images/icons/frown.gif I am sorry that it did not work out for you at KLM. You didn't need those powder blue uniforms anyway. I am a firm believer that there is no set criteria for being hired. I just depends upon the recruiter's mood and personality.
Keep on plugging away. Best of luck to you.

I agree with you on that one Suthernbelle! sometimes it seems like a lotery! there is definitely a question of chance involved and personal and professional skills are not always given the importance they deserve. Also in Europe, the airlines impose an age limit, minimum and maximum height, sometimes even uniform sizes (ie: Martinair in Holland)! I heard that in the States, the requirements are not so strict, if it is indeed the case, then many european airlines need to take example on our american colleagues. Suthernbelle, you work in America, don't you? is it the case ? thanks for your reply.

I think here that everyone is so right about the KLM hiring. I heard a few stories and sometimes I got really mad. I always wanted to work for them, but not anymore. NO WAY!! Besides, i hate those blue uniforms too!!
I believe KLM needs to think about their hiring policies, because they are not all that to work for.... believe me

I had a similar experience on my KLM-interview. All of the recruiters were pursers and they should fire them all. People were turned down for the stupidest reasons.
I still want to be a f/a, so if anyone has a good tip for me....

Hi all!
I work in recruitment for a UK based airline. I'd just recommend being yourself at any interview. Don't "play to the camera" - it is so obvious!! Be friendly, polite and natural. It'll shine through.
Know something about the airline (routes / aircraft types flown / parent co.), but don't go in over rehearsed or appear desperate.
Good luck all!
