Hi everyone, just came back from my nightmare trip to SAN and have not seen my bag yet. Itīs supposed to be in SAN now.I had to buy clothes for the whole vacation (11 days) and would like to know if Iīm allowed to asked for any compensation as the bag was left behind at origin point for 10 days...The Airline refuses to pay any money as I was travelling on an ID00 I won at our
Xmas Party last year. What a gift it was...

It all depends on the airline you work for, and the airline's regulations on staff travel. I think it is unusual for airlines not to pay out towards expenses when your bags have been lost for such a long time.

However it really varies from airline to airline as to what they do for their staff. The best thing to do would be to check with the staff that work in your local baggage department or the people services (Human resources) division staff.

Thanx for advice Tim but I forgot to say that the airline I travelled was not the one Iīm employed at. But I think if this airline
accepts staff as pax they have to treat them like pax and that includes compensating any expences I had due to their error in handling my bag !!

You're right it shouldn't make a difference. I am pretty sure that the airline I work for compensates all pax - be they staff or revenue.

Which airline was it that you travelled and I will let you know what I know about them. Also which airline do you work for ?

I forgot to ask was your bag lost due to a lastminute re-route in your travel plans, or was it just one of the unfortunate few that goes missing between check-in and the plane.

Hi Tim, I`m working at BA but travelled on US Airways. I started at FRA and there are
3 flts daily (PIT/CLT/PHL). The bags were labelled to SAN via PIT as this was the first flight but flt was full so they transported the bags to the CLT flt but this was full again. Finally I made the PHL (which leaves 3 hrs after the first one and the gates are right beside each other). US Airways reassured that bags will be transfered automatically on WL for next flt if one flt is full. Onload happened 25 min befordep and they cleared bag for loading, but it didnīt happen. Bag was left behind w/o even being noticed for 5 days and than it took another 5 days for the Airline to clear the bags to SAN as Rush (for whatīs sake soever). Well finally I got my bag back 2 days ago with a voucher attached of US Airways worth USD 25,- that I can use on my next US Airways flt......Isnīt that silly ? It was clearly their fault....Hope this info can help you. Thanxs for your help anyway.
