what's the average starting hourly rate + expected work hours for a new FA? the ATA post says $17.49/hr & 75 hrs/mo, about $1300/mo before taxes. do the "majors" pay more or offer more hours?

CAL pays $18.60 pfh with a min. of 83 a month. That's @ $1500 a month before tax, insurance, uniform and union fees taken out. This is for the first year. I have also heard that CAL gives bonuses for ontime performances. I think United, AA, and Delta pay a litte more. Not sure how much though.

thanks Vickie! not enough at this stage but when I'm ready to quit the corporate rat race after paying down the cards at least I know what to expect.

I work for dal and like everybody else you make very little for first 3 years and then it gets alot better. Here's a suggestion find out what language they need bite the bullit pay Berlitz $2500 and learn that language and your dues paying 3 years will be %100 better. I recently met brand new FA who had done only 2 domestic trips in 6 months. He was doubly blessed to speak Italian and German. His biggest problem was resentment from his flat mates over his great flying images/icons/cool.gif

US Airways starts you out at $20 an hour with $2 for per diem. Also, you can have the option of working up to 85,95,or 105 hours a month (flight time that is). You get a minimum guarantee of 71 hours. I hope that helps.
