I am looking at trying to get a job at SWA. I was looking at CAL, but SWA seems like a better company for me personally. Also, living in Dallas seems really cool. I was wondering some things though!
Is SWA really as fun to work for as people say?
How is the pay? Good or Bad?
How are the travel perks? How much does it cost to travel on other carriers out of the country and other places in the USA-since SWA only flys to certain cities????
Thanxxx 4 all who help!!!!!

Hi!
I don't work for SWA, but I start training on the 6th of August and I've been reading tons of info on the other boards about it... let me see if I can help!
1) You probably wouldn't live in Dallas right away. They seem to be sending new hires to Baltimore and Chicago lately. Training is in Dallas for 4.5 weeks.
2) Read the book "Nuts" about SWA. It's in the business section of bookstores. It tells all about the company and really makes it sound like an attractive place to work.
3) Starting pay is just over $1300 per month for now... but a new contract will be coming up in March or May, I think. That should get it up there. That means about $16,500 for the first year and about $19,000 for the second year with $1000 to $2000 raises every year. Competitive, but not the very best in the industry. You don't go to SWA for the pay, you go for the great work environment (from what I hear).
4) Space-available travel is completely free and unlimited for you and immediate family. You do get BIG discounts on other airlines... I heard that you can go overseas for $20 to $70. Not bad at all, plus all the discounts on hotels and car rentals, etc.
I hope it's helped. Let me know if you want any other information. I'll know better in a few months after I've been working there for a while.

Can you give me any tips on the interview? I go to Phoenix on Wednesday for the interview. I am alreadya flight attendant, so at least I have the experience. What should I be prepared for? Any type of info would help.
