Could you throw some light my way: What's the deal with those inflight beauty therapists? I guess they're unique in the airline world, so I'm curious!
What do they do? And is it free for Upper Class pax (like, could some fat old guy say,"you girl, down on your knees and massage my feet for ten hours!"?)? How many of them are there - for how many pax? Do they also help with service if they have nothing to do? Do they get trained in emergency like us? Do they feel fully integrated in the crew, or are there hostilities? Do they get paid the same? What's the requirements? And how easy is it to talk them into massaging FA feet?

Thanks for your info!

OK Well, I'm not an IFBT but am a Senior so work alongside them in the Upper Class cabin so here's what they do.
They do manicures, (no chems ie polish though), Head, neck and back massages (over clothes!!!) and some aromatheray treatments (a few more too).
It is included in the service for Upper Class passengers though they cn only have one treatment. The IFBT checks with the lounge prior to departure as to who has had a tratment in there and therefore can't have another on on board. In the lounge pax can also choose between facials, shave, beard trim and haircut but this is not available on board. There is one IFBT on board for the whole Upper Class cabin if it's a very busy full flight and the pax has not had a treatment in the lounge or on the flight they get a priority card to make sure they are seen first on their next flight. They do not help with services except maybe getting a drink for a pax or clearing something in, just like I'm not gonna do a massage if she's on rest! They are fully trained as all crew in SEP and AvMed. They are totally included in all aspects of the flight and downroute as crew. They are paid a similar amount to crew not sure of the exact amount. They need to be qualified in some form of Beauty Therapy.

And it's always a good idea to get on well with them as you never know when you'll need something rubbed!!!

Hope this answers your questions!!
