Next month the DC-10 configurations will be consistent across the fleet. While that is the good news, the bad news is that we are reducing staffing from 10 to 11 F/A's and speakers.
While I don't have anything personal against the speakers, I resent the fact that the company is removing a regular f/a position and not touching the speaker positions! images/icons/frown.gif

I understand your resentment. But if you want to get technical. I suppose you fly out of EWR because D10 changes do not affect Domestic or Houston or Hawaii flights. It also means you will lose 1 position to MAD, MXP and FCO from EWR but gain 4 positons to GLA this summer. You also gain 2 positons to AMS and 1 each to ZRH and BRU and 6 to Ireland. (Their will only be 1 additional speaker position available to ZRH and BRU this summer.)
However the New Continental(Gordon, Greg, and Larry's CAL) is very big on having as many speakers as possible on our Foreign Flights. This Continental is different from the company that you started with.
You are a part of Continental and like all of us make this company different from other U.S. Airlines.
Thats why we are a success.Without a doubt.

And let me guess, you are a speaker? The added positions are for the summer only, once fall hits we will see all those gains listed as a loss.
How many positions did the speaker base gain or loose?
With all due respect, don't lecture me on the differences between this CO and the old. Regardless of the many positives, the language base is a drawback for those with any seniority in the flight attendant ranks. Trust me, I will voice those concerns to the union and I'm sure others will do the same.

images/icons/rolleyes.gif

Now that you mention Union. Please ask them where we stand if a buyout of DAL should occur?
I could not help to notice how you started something on the American Airlines Bulletin Board. Do you think we will do the same to Delta that American did to TWA?

images/icons/rolleyes.gif

I hope you are doing well. I am a speaker but overall like yourself I am a flight attendant. I strongly believe the labels are unnecessary.
I know that you know that our international route system carries more foreign nationals than US nationals. I believe that one or two speakers cannot handle all the work.
Other US airlines fly with one or two speakers. We are a success because we have more speakers. Our success is demonstrated in the fact that no other US airline flies to more international destinations around the globe than Continental. If not you must agree that more than 70% of our revenue comes from our international network.
I would also like to let you know that I chose to learn a foreign language. With regards with you talking to the Union, why don't we discuss reintegrating our seniority system to include our Guam Based flight attendants? and since I suppose you would like to discuss with the Union to have less speakers on our flights we should also discuss about giving back seniority to PE flight attendants and taking seniority away from Frontier flight attendants since they were bankrupted at their time and did not deserve any seniority?. How much longer do we all have to suffer these differences. How much longer do we have to hear the same arguments. Let's stop creating divisions within our great company and work together.
