Hi all.
I'll get right to the point.
I'd need advice from CAL flight attendants. I fly for COEX, and am VERY interested in interviewing for CAL. I have been at COEX for 3 years, and the time has come! I am planning on attending an open house session in IAH this month. Does anyone have any adivice or info on the open houses?
When I was hired at COEX, I saw it as a way out from everything else that was going on in my life. I was excited to travel the world. I have since realized that this is what I love to do.....my choice career. I want to be at a major, but none seem to top Continental. I love this company, and I cannot imagine working elsewhere.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
RJBarbie

It's been over 16 years since my group interview, followed by the 1-on-1. You can count on the interviewers looking for the canidates that best demonstrate good public speaking skills, professionally dressed and very confident in their mannerisms.
All of these should be at your finger tips. I think it is important to let them know of your "revelation" about wanting to be a f/a for life (or a career life at least).
Good luck and hope to see you "on-the-line"!

A couple of things they teach at recruiter training: Look for self assuredness, self confidence (as 757 said) also, without saying it in so many words, illustrate as best you can, your commitment to teamwork..and how important being part of a team is to you. As you know, when Gordon and Greg began to implement "Working Together" it was designed to become a concept, not just a slogan. And for those of us who remember the horror show of the past, it was actually inspiring to a bunch of people who'd "heard it all before.." AVOID THE USE OF THE DREADED PERSONAL PRONOUN!!! "I" should be stricken from your vocabulary. Think and respond with "WE". It is very important and believe me it pops up on the recruiter's radar screen. I know this sounds corny..but be yourself...Since you're COEX we know you can do the job..now the Devil is in the details. Two pieces of info and a piece of Trivia for you as I depart this realm: 1. The CAL newhire requirement for 2001-02 is 1300 F/A's (thats in the budget) and how you can tell right away at the cattle call if you are gonna make the next step: If the recruiter whispers to you to go to another room right away or to come back later that..you made the first cut. If not, you get the "try again" letter. Finally, very few people know that "Working Together" was the program Gordon developed and implemented when he was at Boeing Commercial Aircraft division...I guess it works. Good luck, plan on IAH or EWR Good luck!

757 and wiz,
Thank you both for your input. I am really trying hard to prepare myself for this. I appreciate your confidence in me.
I'll be attending the open house in Houston on June 29th. I had to drop a good 4-day trip and pick up a bunch of day trips on Saturdays and Sundays to fit it into my schedule. I hope it pays off! images/icons/smile.gif Either way, I know it will be a good experience for me.
More comments are welcome.
