Hi Pippi. I used to be a selector for BA cabin crew , but returned to flying full time 2 years ago, so my information may be slightly out of date.
At the moment, you need to speak another language fluently, or have customer care experience, so I think you qualify for an interview!! They are currently recruiting for Eurofleet crew ie shorthaul. You would find it very difficult to commute from Italy, working on this fleet. There is a veeeeeeeery long waiting list for Worldwide crew.
The interview as I remember it is over just 1 day. It involved a group exercise, a chat amongst 4 or 5 others and then an interview. My advice would be to be yourself, to take a real interest in your fellow candidates and to smile. You need lots of examples of how you deliver excellent customer service, work well in a team, have coped with difficult customers etc.

Try the ba website www.britishairwaysjobs.com (http://www.britishairwaysjobs.com) for more info
Click onto Cabin Services. I do not recommend applying for EuroGatwick, as it is even more difficult to transfer to another fleet. Go for Eurofleet if u can.

Very best of luck [URL=http://www.britishairwaysjobs.com]

Hi to all you BA Flight Attendants
My name is Gloria and I’m Italian + Swiss. I’ve been recently hired by Crossair (SAGroup) and should start training on Jul 9th. Unfortunately there are very bad news on the whole Swissair Group (Bankruptcy...!). I’ve heard some rumors abt Crossair being sold to BA.Nothing however will be disclosed before Apr 25th. In this uncertain situation, I was thinking to try to apply for BA Flight attendant position, before they tell me "sorry, we cannot hire you any longer" (I’ve been given a training confirmation, but got no contract so far… images/icons/wink.gif I’m ready to move to UK. I fluently speak English, German, French (+ Italian as mother tongue). I wish to know if anybody out there can give me an advice on the hiring process. How many days it involves? Is there a Group session + one-to-one interview? Can you help me in getting as much information as I can so I can get there well prepared? Thank you for your help and …happy landing to everybody!

Hi Secondbreak,
thank you soooo much for having posted back! I really appreciate the time you dedicated me and I’ll take into high consideration your recommendations. May I ask you a few more questions? How is it possible to survive with initial salary in such an expensive town? Where would you recommend living? My girlfriend and I we’re considering to apply both (she speaks perfectly 4 languages), so – if both accepted - we could eventually share the costs of a mini-flat. Do you think it is possible to find something at reasonable price very close to Heathrow? Is the car a must? I’m considering relocating; commuting would be chaos. But once in a while I’d like to go back to Italy. After how much time is a FA eligible for benefits, if any…? Hope not to bother you too much with all these questions! Thank you and fly safe! Ciao

Hi Pippi
Starting out anywhere is not easy but London must be one of the easiest places if you want to. There are numerous rooms to let within families or with other cabin crew in houses / apartments around Heathrow. We are lucky for our airport has very good public transport connections with local towns, villages or even central London. A car would be beneficial but not essential. Many Italian crew members bring their cars with them as they are cheaper in Italy. You will find that alot of the new recruits end up sharing a house or flat with people of the same training group. I believe you are entitled to staff travel concessions after 6 months of joining but I beg others to correct me if I'm wrong.
Of course try Alitalia too - it's very prestigious in Italy however if you wish to try for BA, go for it and good luck!

A really good site is aircabincrew.com It has a recruitment section that is written by one of our CSDs and is completely up to date and free. Good Luck!
