I just flew with a CC89 union rep on my last trip who was involved in the negotiations for the move of the 767s to LHR to operate some of the longhaul services
It would seem that those crew will be Tri-Rated but they will only fly on the 747 and 777 in order to maintain recency. I can't really see what the opportunity for earning a decent wage would be as there will be very few if any routes that would be suitable to do back-to-backs on and the chance of getting a long-range seems minimal.
The only thing that seemed a bit of a temptation was that you could come back after 3 months. This was subject to "Operational Requirements" so quite what that will mean who knows.
