On behalf of US Airways stews, we are sad to hear of the passing of your Queen Mother. Many of us know little of the Royal Family but understand she was quite popular, even today. You have our sympathy.

Mr. W. I realise that you like to post what you consider witty comments on various bb, but I really donąt think that last compliment was terribly amusing. I am an unashamed Monarchist and I would certainly be saddened by the death of, say, Tony Benn. I certainlz wouldnąt refer to him as an old bag. I have a great respect for anyone who has contributed to society in a peaceful matter whether I agree with what they stand for or not. I imagine you know little of 20th Century British history because if you did, I doubt you would have been moved to be so flippant in reference to Queen Elizabeth's death. If you want to find out how important a figure she was in the last century ask any one who suffered the unspeakable horrors of WW11 on the home front. In fact you might like to speak to my grandmother. Just given her a call after the funeral and she had just had a little cry. But then why should I give a damn what you think of great British institutions as you have chosen to call Denmark your home.

er...Katie. Reading your last posting here. US does not have a dictatorship. France is a Republic, it is not a dictatorship, as with Eire.
A President does not mean a dictatorship.

A President does not mean a dictatorship.<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana ">I know that republic does not automatically mean dictorship but that is what it *could* amount to and I wouldn't want it to happen over here. There's a theory that we could end up as a police state. images/icons/shocked.gif

Anyway, even though certain countries drone on about their freedom they are certainly not free it's just that they don't know they are not!

BUT! on the other hand if the world is run by the Bilderberg then I don't suppose it matters who you have in 'power' be it royalty or Tony Blair. They are just puppets-the front men. We will never actually know who is actually in power.

And as that has gone wayyyyyyyyyy of the topic of conversation I'll leave it there.

Katie the Royal Family in the UK, do not run the country. They do not have any political powers. To be blut, the UK could run without them, saving the British people a hell of a lot of tax. Including running up six figure overdrafts. If a dictator was voted in they could not stop it. The closest we have had to that was Mrs Thatcher.(richer got richer and the poorer got poorer)
Very few Western countries with no royal families become dictoratorships/police states, so I don`t think you have much to worry about the UK becoming police state, although everything is now under CCTV.

Guys if you want to see a real life dictatorship in work go to Saudi Arabia or North Korea. Ones a kingdom the other a republic. Now how the HELL did we get this far off topic?!

So do we deny she was sozzled most of the day and that she was living on borrowed time (and G&Ts)? images/icons/tongue.gif

Airbag, if you base your view of the world from the likes of Spitting Image, I feel a little sorry for you.

A close friend of mine worked for her -- I'd assume he'd have a fair idea wouldn't you?

Anyway who ever said being 2 sheets to the wind was a bad thing? Not me..... I'd be a hipocrite!

Ok Airbag, point taken. If alcoholic consumption is linked to life expectancy then I can look forward to another two centuries on this Earth.
