Hey all,
Thanks for all of your input and advice--I don't know any other UA F/A's, and this is my only source of info!
I do have one more question: I have just heard today from a Continental F/A a rumor that UA newhires are now required to sign a waiver that says that they can be released at any time (because of the impending merger)!!!!!
Do any of you know the validity of this rumor? I am currently a F/A for another airline and would be very worried that this could happen to me (what a nightmare)--this is my livelihood, and I would be devastated to be out of TWO jobs!
Take care, safe flying, Jetboy images/icons/smile.gif images/icons/confused.gif

I havent heard anything about a waiver. Ill send an email to our local union officers and see what their response is. I seriously think this is a rumor. Especially since we havent heard of this on the line. We will deffinatley fight this if it turns out to be true. Visit our union home page at:

I posted your question on the United AFA Discussion Board a couple of days ago, and now one's confirmed it yet. So it probably is just a rumor, which makes sense since you heard it from a CO f/a instead of a UAL f/a in training.

And besides, I don't know why they'd need a waiver, any time you come into any job there's a possibility of furlough, no one is hired on a guaranteed permanent basis.

Thanks SO much to both Cubanito and FlyboyDC----I can't tell you how much I appreciate your efforts!!! I hope to meet you both someday (although with 26,000 UAL F/A's, that'd be hard!)---I do hope that it is in actuality a rumor. I recognize that this choice I am making is a risk, and that goes with any new job or career change---I just cannot see myself with my current airline for the next 20 years!!! AAAAA!!!!). I am very excited to begin my training with UA next month---thanks again for all your concern and input, guys!
