UNITED CONSIDERS GOING FRACTIONAL:
United Airlines has confirmed it is looking at trying to capture the executive flying market with a fleet of corporate jets that will carry six to 14 passengers. The UAL subsidiary would operate the jets and lease them to corporate customers in a fractional ownership arrangement. According to CNNfn, UAL has already begun hiring executives, but not pilots, and will soon announce what type of jets they will be using. Watch out, Executive Jet!?

Truly a savvy move. What a great way to assure brand loyalty. Im sure other airlines will copy.

Sorry guys -- BA got there first. We had plans for this for over 1 1/2 years. Our exec charter arm is up and running already.

This 'brainchild' of our dear leader is chock full of problems from the start. The company has obtained a waiver from ALPA to hire pilots that are I beleive outside the UA seniority list.(Talk about selling your souls) They expect to hire about 1000 pilots. Our flight attendant union has a scope clause tighter that ALPAs (it has been proven/upheld in court) yet the company has not bothered to even speak to our union yet. Knowing how ...um...high maintenance our big wheeling pax are I cannot imagine them flying in their Lear jet without a flight attendant to spoon feed them. AFA has gone to court to declare this a 'major dispute' per the RLA so this deal might not even fly in its proposed form.

Yo Wench!

And they drive out of the Elk Grove lot every day...thinking to themselves....boy what another great creative day I've had. Once again I"ve helped give birth to an idea which will never make it to the nursery because we all forgot it needs things like air. (but that's o.k. 'cause we forgot AS A TEAM and it's teamwork that counts!!) Oh, and there goes another Zillion dollars from our employees, thrown down another R&D hole...I like this playpen called NewVentures....how much money can I play with tomorrow? This is better than being a TV weathercaster. They can be wrong half the time and still make six figures...Here, I can be wrong all of the time and I keep get getting promoted..I wonder if I should go ahead and get that new Porsche..Ah....aint life grand here at UA EXO......

When will they start paying attention to the core business once more? Hey Guys...we're first and foremost a freakin' airline!!!! Not a venture capital firm!!...get with the program.

United executive jets is the funniest thing I've ever heard and sure to be a disaster. A primary reason people look to executive jets is to AVOID the rude and lazy service they receive on the commercial airlines. Who in their right mind would pay for a private jet to have a United flight attendant scowl at them? And to see the UA flight attendants and pilots attack their own company and screech about scope and seniority ("We're old and we've been around a long time so we must be best for the job") is just icing on the cake.

Hey Chicago9993 that's a low blow. I hope you aren't a UAL flight attendant or pilot. If you are, maybe you should consider retiring or if you can't afford to --- try a good therapist. Our medical plan should cover prozac for the remainder of your career.

It's not fair to generalize. Every airline has a few sour apples and disgruntled employees working for them ......right?

I'm happy and proud of my career choice and treat people the way I would like to be treated. I think the majority of my co-workers feel the same way.

Funny how UAL Corp is buying Private jets and Goodwin announces that UAL may die next year. Its time to get him out of Elk Grove!

Good news, flight attendants as well as other employees are petioning to have Goodwin ousted. Ask your fellow flying partners, I am sure someone will have copies for you to sign. It is important to get this man out of UAL and he needs to take his crownies with him! Let them go start an airline that caters to the wealthy few captialists like themselves. But don't destroy UAL by doing this.

He is going to take us down the same road as Eastern and Pan Am. What does he care, he has his golden parachute. He needs to remember though, parchutes don't always work!!

Get involved UAL employees, we can change this now but only if each one of us gets involved.

God bless all of you.
