Check out www.lonelyplanet.com (http://www.lonelyplanet.com) , they have destination info, as well as a bulletin board like this one specifically for travel advice. I use it all the time when I travel.

Most people go to Honolulu, and as a result it can be crowded, and lacks a lot of the island charm you may expect from Hawaii.

I prefer Kauai, which is extraordinarily beautiful without the crowds, but others like Maui. Hawaii (the Big Island) has a lot of diversity, and that's where you can see the erupting volcano. Molokai is probably the least visited, and I hear it's totally laid-back and beautiful.

United has flights to Kauai (LIH), Honolulu (HNL), Maui (OGG), Kona [on the Big Island] (KOA), and I think even Hilo, all from LAX I think, but maybe some are from SFO.

Aloha, have a good trip. images/icons/smile.gif

Hé Fiesta,

I gotta agree with flyboy. Kauai was my favourite too when I visited.

Take a boat trip (or helicopter) along the North-shore and hike into the canyon.

Very, very nice. Hotel prices weren't too ridiculous as I recall.

Maybe some will give a crew-discount.

Have a great time. images/icons/cool.gif images/icons/cool.gif

Fiesta31, Enjoy Hawaii!! As someone from there that tries to passride back there as often as possible you need to keep a few things in mind. EVERY airline employee tries to passride there and as other airline staff you will be lowest boarding priority. PLEASE get a backup ticket on another airline as often it is harder to leave Hawaii than to get there. American Trans Air flies there regularly as well as Hawaiian and both make an effort to accomodate staff of other airlines. US airlines do not allow cabin crew of other airlines to jumpseat either. HOPEFULLY you will have no trouble but I would hate for you to get stuck! Honolulu is essentially a city on a crowded beach . If you want shopping, nightlife and LOTS of company on your holiday this is the place for you. If you are travelling with a friend rather than a partner, skip Maui. It is for the newly wed and the nearly dead. Ths big island (Hawaii) is very mellow and slow in comparison. If your idea of a vacation does not include nightclubs ,this is the place for you. Renting a car on any of the islands is cheap as almost all offer an airline employee discount, ALAMO offers some of the cheapest rentals in the US. If you want to economize at mealtimes, ask the locals where to get cheap food and order the 'plate lunch' every local will understand. It has a bit of everything on it and is the best priced.
