All American based flight crews should contact the FAA, their Senators and Representatives NOW and DEMAND that the rule that allows non passengers to the gate area needs to be changed NOW. Why does it take 12 people to walk Aunt Millie to the gate? Say goodbye to her outside security. No other country allows non passengers to the gate area so why do you? This rule needs to be changed. So what if you piss off a few people, everyone else will be safer.

All airlines should start reviewing their existing FA requirement stds. How could we expect those grandma FAs to be vigilant, tough and protect the safety of the paxs on board when situations like turbulance, evacuation, terorrism etc arise? Instead of being help or assist by the FAs, paxs in turn have to take over their roles, handle the situations n protect these grandmas. Friendly sky soon becoming "Standy for Action" sky.... so sad but it's true...
