United losing millions of dollars to USAir as the result of Goodwin's one-man decision (well two man, if you include Wolf) to buy USAir...!!!

Yep. And let's not forget his "contribution" of sending Dussault executive jet manufacturer more than $11 million IMMEDIATELY after the Government bailout money came.
The obvious (not to mention accurate) fingerpointing rightly will be placed forever on the nose of Goodwin. If UA ever goes under, it's unanimous that that man singlehandedly was the cause. --NOT the unions, NOT the pilots, NOT "poor customer service," and NOT even the tragedy of Sept. 11th. --No matter what journalists, aviation "experts", or the smug 'know-it-all' 100K sitting in 2C think or say.
And if some will blame the pilots' new pay raises, they need look no further than Goofwin because he should have been strong and competent enough to at least try to negotiate something that wouldn't so severely affect our balance sheet. Gosh, isn't this a big reason why CEOs are CEOs in the first place???
Personally, if one is forced to find another non-Goodwin cause for UA's current predicament, one need not look any further than the Board of Directors.
THEY SHOULDA FIRED HIS ASS RIGHT AFTER THE SUMMER OF 2000 FIASCO. There was no reason in the world why they should've allowed him to remain at WHQ for so long. No reason in the world.
Let's just all hope and pray that this Creighton guy can work miracles.
........We surely need it.
