G'Day Mates. United Cabin Crew hea. New uniforms are as follows.........
1. The 3 piece suit remains same color except no more command bars on the sleeves of the jacket as customers said it looks very Military hence UAL went with Corporate look.
2. No more white shirts. They are now a light Blue with thicker material ( very nice)
3. Blue scarves for Gals and Light blue silk ties for men.
4. Designer dresses like Northwest but with silver borders instead of NWA's RED and dress is dark navy blue.
Thats All. I do have a Digi Cam so next time I go to work, I will snap a pix and post it on here. Overall, I LOVE IT. Very corporate and Professional. Only thing is you can't tell us apart from others unless we are in a Bunch. Safe flights to you all. Cheers and G'day images/icons/wink.gif

I got the pleasure of flying up to PDX and back yesterday from SFO. I must say that the new uniforms are very stylish and professional looking. While some say that they look like team leader uniforms at McDonalds, I still think that they look very nice compared to the older uniforms.
Your oppinions?

My only question that I am still having a hard time understanding is UAL complains they are having financial difficulties, so what do we do, we replace all the old uniforms for new ones that are the same color, same style, same thing?
I think the airline industry should put us all in fatigues. They don't have to be army green, they could be sky blue.
Hey it will make us look official with our three hours of combat training we are mandated to take.
I think it would be great, picture it.......
Here's a really good one I just heard from a pax......Miss - their is a screw loose on the wing!!!
Need I say anymore? images/icons/tongue.gif images/icons/wink.gif images/icons/smile.gif images/icons/rolleyes.gif

The new dress for UA is made of the same material that is used for NWA male and female uniforms.
The NWA female dress is of a different fabric, more akin to the old UA dress.
The new UA female dress is the only new piece that is the same material as NWA's common complete uniform (Jacket and pant).
I was in BOS the other day. We stay at the same hotel as UAL. I saw the new uniforms and you guys can keep them! You don't even look like a crew member anymore. I hope AA dosen't go with the corporate look. The crew that had them said they wanted to burn them!!

I have not seen the new uniforms, but surely they cannot be as awful looking as ours at Delta!!!

I guess I'm hopelessly old school, but I miss the days when flight attendants were known for being stylishly turned-out. When a crew passing through an airport or hotel lobby looked SO SMART that heads turned and conversations stopped. I still occassionally see crews that look like that. Air France. Icelandair. Cathay Pacific. Emirates. But never the crew of a U.S. airline. The uniform appearance of American cabin crews has been slowly downgraded over the years to that of other minimum wage employees. Look at poor Delta! (Previously, only Aeroflot stewardesses looked like prison matrons!) Most of us look as though we could just as easily be employed by WalMart or Denny's, as by an airline. Service stripes, epaulets, distinctive colors; all the touches that used to make our uniforms unique are disappearing in an effort to make us indistiguishable from the masses. It saves our companies a lot of money, of course. Who needs Ralph Lauren or Bill Blass to create a look for us when generic uniforms can be ordered right out of a 'corporate attire' catalogue! Ever check into a layover hotel and find your uniform necktie is exactly the same as those being worn by the front desk staff? I have. So to those of you at United Airlines, let me say I think it's sad the only part of your new uniform that looks remotely LIKE a uniform, is your wings. I wonder how soon before THEY disappear...?

NWAcrew is absolutly possitivly right.. we no longer have the airline look. The NWA uniform and the AA uniform as well as the CO. uniform still manage to say Airline . Co still has a look of authority and is taliored with acessories that match its corporate image and gold wings....even the new aroflot uniform says airline compared with the dowdy Delta look. The only thing I like about the Delta look is you don't need to shave or take a shower if your in a hurry and nobody would know. The look is sad, sloppy, and somthing you might expect from a 3rd tier charter...poor Delta.
The new Finnair and Lufthansa are uniforms that say AIRLINE and are clean and tailored and say autority and charm...if we could only imitate that, and not the fast food look we'd be doing it right. images/icons/frown.gif

My point exactly. I'll bet our collegues at, say, Air France, don't ever see THEIR uniforms on hotel (much less MOTEL!) staff.
I think only AA, NWA and CO are the only US carriers to still have that crisp, sharp and real crew uniform! I hope we don't go with the cooperate look. I like my stripes on my blazer and I earned them just like my wings. I'm proud to have them and don't want to loose them!! graemlins/plane_smilie.gif

Juice, thanks for the nice words about our uniform @ CO. With the exception of the "Welcome to Burger King, would you like to try a value meal" floppy ties (ugh), I'm pretty content with it. I've worked for 8 airlines and this one by far as the best uniforms.....I pray that CO never gets rid of our cuffed walking shorts or our short-sleeved jacket. I'll quit, I swear, I'll quit. Those floppy ties though? What the hell were they thinking? Supposedly, someone sitting in Mecca decided that the old broach (which I loved) was a "hazard". It could puncture your windpipe in an emergency, blah, blah, blah
I remember one year at recurrent, I opened my big mouth and said..."Oh, so that's why we got rid of it? Hey, have y'all ever stopped to think where we wear our WINGS???!!!"
Clarion and Comfort Inn are the same company! I saw them @ the Clarion SFO!! It's funny that they wear the same uniforms as DL!!http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/lolup.gif

Actually, I am doubting about the Delta uniform, if it's grey, I think I saw it before, if not, well, if anyone has a pic POST IT!

i like the new uniforms worn by Delta and United.
i've seen both of these new uniforms in person when i have been at Amsterdam or London Gatwick.
they are very stylish and professional. and i like them much more over the old ones.
also haven't UA refurbished their First and Economy cabins?

Was sitting in the DAY airport yesterday, when a UAL crew walked by. Apart for the crew tags on their bags and matching pilots, I would never had known they were flight attendants.
All that aside, I kinda liked the blue shirts and ties. I thought they looked sharp.
And while we are sharing opinions here, I don't like American or Delta uniforms!!!!
I like my uniform at NWA (no stripes). But something new is in the works for us. I hope not another shaade of blue shirt.

I think our revamped uniform is actually an improvment, now that I have finally seen it in action... Our old dress and white shirt was so dreary - and we looked identical to everyone else... Of course, this is coming from someone who is personally in favour of bringing back the little orange dress and matching hat.... sure it would liven up many a dull flight...
That's OK push here! The only thing I don't like about NWA flight attendant uniforms, is that stripe look in the pants and blazer!!!!!!!! http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/new/catinthehat.gif

Has anyone ever gotten the chance to see JetBlue's uniforms? Now THOSE are stylish. I love 'em.
Anyway, I wonder what's up with so many of our U.S. airlines wanting to get away from "airline-looking" uniforms so badly?
Don't they know that even our customers enjoy stylish cabin crews?
I want my sleeve stripes back!!!

I have been going nuts trying to remember the web address for Brookhurst - is there one? I have not received my new uniform yet and am dying to see it prior to going back on 4/1... Is the dress easy to alter, has anyone tried? I was pretty much the queen of tricking up the old one... if I say so myself...

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the new United uniforms. I wish someone could show me a picture! I guess everthing is better than the old UA uniform. Personally, I think that was one of the worst looking uniforms I have ever seen, especially the white blouse with that "V" thing.
From all US airlines I think Northwest has the best looking uniform. I also like the Continental uniform, but I do not like the shorts/top combination. When I see FA's wear this combination it looks like they are on their way to the BEACH. images/icons/shocked.gif

Cliff, sorry you don't like our shorts, but I'll tell you this...if you ever had an opportunity to wear them with the short sleeved jacket, you'd NEVER wear anything else...they are so very comfortable and I actually get a lot of compliments on them. I never, never, never wear my long slacks....ugh. Too hot and they always end up dragging in some nasty wet spot on the galley floor.

EarBlock, nothing personal, but I think the CO jacket/skirt combination looks pretty smart on FA's.Much better than the shorts. I bet you look absolutely fabulous in your shorts, but to me it doesn't really look professional.
JetBlue's uniforms are great looking! When they wear the dark blue pants and shirt, it gives them a stealth look!

I agree F/A uniforms should project an image of authority and that of aviation profesionals...but one of quality and style...our current AA uniform in style and materials looks cheep and tacky...(what about those Cadillac crests)...I am all for a complete redesign

i love the new uniforms at United we all look great.
i hated the old ones, didn't look very smart, it makes UNITED comparable to the Europeans who always have smart uniforms.
the only old uniform i liked was Shuttle by United.

I agree with most everyone that uniforms should be crisp and professional looking. Also they should (hopefull) be flattering to most. I will say at our airline we are allowed to wear shorts (polyester of course) and cotton polo shirts in the summer. It's so nice to be cool and comfortable in hot airplanes and in airports with no a/c. images/icons/smile.gif images/icons/wink.gif images/icons/tongue.gif images/icons/cool.gif

The only thing I dont like about the uniform, is the material itself!!! I don't like spending more time in it if I don't have too...they're too itchy! images/icons/rolleyes.gif
