The chances of getting a comp upgrade on the flight are basically nil, sorry to tell you this.
Those North Pac flight usually will have a waiting list as long as your arm for upgrades, either using miles to upgrade, certificates or sales upgrade certs. If the flight is over sold in coach, then the planner will go through usually always looking at passengers who are top fliers with United and the Star Alliance. Only after that will they start to look at individual fares, but usually there are a lot of top fliers on the North Pac flights to fill up business or first. If you have a full fare, your travel agent should be able to at least book you in the forward part of the cabin where there is more legroom. The computer will automatically open up those seats based upon your booking code.

Well, I am actually a premier member on UAL but I'm not sure if that'd help. I also asked my friend to check the load, the return flights however are oversold by 25 seats but we all know it'll change as it gets closer to the departure date. Who knows..

Anyway, thanks for the answer... I guess I'd just have to enjoy economy plus seat they gave me. images/icons/tongue.gif

SeaMeFly, It cant hurt to mention that you work for NW (ID in hand). If they have to do INVOL upgrades, what better candidate? The worst they can say is no.....Good luck to you!

All I can say is DON'T ASK THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS!
We are powerless to help you and don't want you to get mad when we tell you we can't do it. If we upgrade you, we can be terminated and it has been recently done to a flight attendant I know.

So, I wish you a safe and exciting journey in whatever cabin you may be seated in.

And I'm back from my Singapore trip and did try to sweet talk the ladies at the counter (out of SEA) and was turned down on the spot images/icons/rolleyes.gif

...so for the rest of the flights I decided to just keep whatever seats we got.. Luckily we got 17a/b on the 777 to/from SEA and the 3 seats together (for just 2 of us) on 744 to/from NRT. I thought those were the best seats in coach but the cushion is way too thin. images/icons/smile.gif

But I still enjoyed the food and friendly FAs.
