Well it seems to me that once again the flight attendants at UAL have some balls. I know the iam doesn't hold a candle to AFA.

You have to have "balls" when you fight management!! Congratulations to all of the UAL flight attendants. images/icons/grin.gif

Wait a minute guys....we the UAL FLIGHT ATTENDANTS haven't seen a penny and I can probably bet we won't. That $8.8 million will go right into AFA's little kitty and work for their use in funding future campaigns of propoganda.
AFA is not all this wonderful entity that supports and works hard for their members...at least not at UAL. Remember, they are the ones that brought a 10 year contract to their UAL membership and fought hard to get it passed when they knew in their hearts it was not in OUR best interest.
Remember - UAL pilots 40% raise, mechanics 37% raise, AFA represented flight attendants 0%. However, if you look at it this way, how much can the company get from the flight attendants in a give back?
By the way, the $8.8 million might go towards matching AFA officers 401k funds, oh, I'm sorry I forgot. They already have that. It's the UAL flight attendants WHO DON'T HAVE THAT!

i hate to go into someone elses forum and be critical, but i just have to say that either the UA f/a's or the AFA or both have got some balls... given the financial state of (all) airlines, with of course the exception of southwest and jetblue (will we EVER hear the end of it???), i cannot believe that UA has been asked to pay 8,8 million to the UA f/a's.
ever heard of shooting yourself in the foot? bleed the company dry, and you won't have a company to work for. i don't wish it upon you, but i wouldn't say that now is a time to be greedy (whether it's deserved or not)...

I too am intruding on this forum and I am not a flight attendant I am a mechanic. But from what I have heard from UAL mechanics and what I have seen I disagree with you Pillow Pusher from AA. Look, I don't know your backround or length of service. But I have been through a paycut only to watch our executives give themselves a nice bonus and my union (at the time before we threw them out) raised my dues DURING A PAYCUT! I atleast applaud the flight attendants and their union for standing tough against management. It always seems every time inept management (as is the case with UAL) makes huge mistakes and drives a company into the red they want to wack the pay of the working men and women who really make these airlines run. We underlings are always getting punished for others mistakes while the ones who made the mistakes in the first place i.e Goodwin walk away with a golden parachute. Well we common workers cannot afford to take pay cuts every time things don't go well. The price of housing and everything else goes up but we wait years for the industry to get better and get a raise only to have it taken away again???? GIVE ME A BREAK!! What good is a job if they keep raping you every time the economy gets bad. UAL flight attendants you get a thumbs up as far as I am concerned. images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/grin.gif

Count your blessings with AFA. At least you have recourse with your company. You have a right to file a grievance and a CONTRACT! It may not be the best one, but I long for the day DL flight attendants wake up and get a contract!

Dear Pillow Pusher - shame on you. It's the old cliche the pot calling the kettle.....you all received a huge retro check when you signed your new contract didn't you? And you signed a FIVE year contract only. Not a TEN year contract like UAL flight Attendants. I do think that you should be a bit more supportive for your fellow flight attendants or should I say happy for them.
And Line guy is absolutely correct. Management doesn't think twice about how much they receive and how it affects the company.

I agree with you, "skysthelimit".
$8.8 million is a fraction of the annual salary a new CEO will receive from United. There is ALWAYS money for the boys at the top...
