i know this is the AIR TRANSAT forum, but does anyone know what has happenned to the former aircraft of CANADA 3000, ROYAL and CANJET.?
i had heard that an A340 has gone to Tahiti airline AIR TAHITI NUI, but was wondering about the 737/757/319/320 'planes?
also have you heard of a proposed CANADA 3000 off-shoot called Canada West Airlines?

Hi easy! I heard the same for the A340. And I know for sure that some of the 319 and 320 went to Skyservice, another charter based in YYZ. For Canada West, it is probably just another rumor, there is a lot of rumors regarding the future of aviation in Canada... Air Columbus started service out of YMX (montreal-mirabel) in March, but for now it seems that they only have one B727. And former CEO of Royal wants to launch a sort of EastJet, for the eastern provinces but mostly based in Quebec. For us, we stick with what we do best, after all we're a vacation airline. We are getting another A330 and 2 more A310 this spring.
Happy flying everyone, I'm on vacation the whole month of april and am looking forward to do nothing!

latest off-shoot is CANADA ROYAL, from Royal Airlines executives who plan to use A320s on routes in direct competition with tango by air canada and A330s on former ROYAL and CANADA 3000 longhaul routes.
do you think any of these people are serious?
A340 has gone to AIR TAHITI NUI but not sure about A320s A330s and 737s and 757s still parked maybe. some A319s apparently went to SkyService.
what is Canadian policy on foreign ownership?

I know that Michel Leblanc is very serious, but he cannot get the financing to get started. Even though the market is now going well, it is saturated in Canada. Canada 3000 was our direct competitor last year, and we were always full (charter!!!). This year we are still always full but we offer less flights. Athough, Skyservice and Air Canada have picked up some C3 routes, especially for flights down south, the offer is not what it used to be.
That is why, working for Transat, I have the feeling that the canadian market is saturated. I don't know if it is really the case or if Air Transat isn't being agressive enough to open new destinations and more flights... I know one thing for sure, we will not go into the domestic market, we don't have smaller planes so it is not profitable for us. Except during the summer. And we have a feeding agreement with Westjet for our international flights out west.
As for C3 planes, last time I was in Vancouver, I saw 2 B757 parked at the south terminal. I don't know if they are still there!
It would be nice to see another airline in our friendly skies, but I doubt it would survive. I think Westjet is going to expand east, they announced service to YYZ and they're talking about Montreal (St-Hubert-YHU) and Halifax.
The charter market is OK with Skyservice, Air Columbus and US of course!!!
See ya!

I know that Ex-Canada 3000 president Angus Kinnear, has launched a new Airline called USA3000 that is besed out of Pennsylvania.
Flights began last December and expects to have five A320's by year end.
USA3000 offers domestic charters and flights to Mexico and the Caribbean on behalf of Apple Vacations, the second-biggest tour operator in the U.S.
Perhaps some of his planes came from Canada 3000?

so, even with WestJet, and tango do you Canadians think there is room for another airline.
i mean, sadly we've seen the departure of Canadian (or Canadien) and CanJet was squeezed away...

I did not know about USA3000, but that is interesting, cause there is a strong rumor saying that apple vacations would like to enter the canadian market. Funny now that I know who is probably behind this, M. Kinnear! I mean that would be nice for all those F/As still out of jobs, but I'm not sure about the management skills of M. Kinnear. Anyway who knows what will happen, we can only speculate and I continue to say that with Jazz, Tango, Air Canada, Westjet, Skyservice, Air Columbus and Air Transat, the canadians are well served. There are a lots of room for improvements in smaller communities though.
But, are those routes profitable?
I can't wait to see what will happen for us at Transat, cause it looks like everyone wants to compete with us on southern routes. I know that we reinstated some PVR flights this month, AC cancelled a few of theirs.
See ya and be safe!

just read that the Boeing 757s and Airbus A310s are parked at Toronto airport, as Skyservice only wanted Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. SkyService did not want any long-haul types either but these have new homes.
Canada Royal is still planning to launch but needs financial backing for a fleet of "between 10 and 20 shorthaul aircraft and 5 long haul aircraft" was the statement.
if you have any info on CanJet or Roots Air, airlines i just know were low-cost airlines could you post here or e-mail me at easy_Jet@easy.com

Roots Air was an Airbus A320 and Boeing 727 operator. they also briefly owned an Airbus A330.
the airline flew for about a month after much hype before being intergrated into Air Canada.
the airline was linked with Roots of Canada and launched by Skyservice, who is an Airtours, now MyTravel partner.
i know that Skyservice USA is, but is Canadian Skyservice becoming MyTravel Airways too?

Hi there,
CanJet had 6 737's leased from US Airways.....we are now operating 4 of them and the other 2 were leased to other Companies, I'm not sure who.

Hey All...
I'm a former Canada 3000 Flight Attendant.
Just a few things to add to the discussion.
I know the former CEO of Royal Aviation (Micheal LeBlanc) HAS started up a new airline and it's called "JETSGO." He hasn't used any of his former employee's though, and is operating MD-80 aircraft in the domestic market.
As for Mr. Kinnear and Apple Vacations...
USA 3000 had already launched before C3's demise in November '01. We had operated winter charters out of EWR for 2 winter seasons on behalf of Apple Vacations...and I know we were well liked...therefore the C3 spin-off.
When Mr. Kinnear tried to get C3 off of the ground again one of his major parters would have been the president of Apple Vacations, however the Canadian Government limits foreign ownership to a measle 25%. He (Apple Vacations guy) later stated that he would have funded the entire project, had it not been for the Canadian foreign ownership laws.
I can honestly say however, that I don't think that Mr. Kinnear and his buddy from Apple are quite done here in Canada...they're waiting till everyone forgets, and the waters calm.
As for CANADA ROYAL? Where did you hear of that airline? This is the first time I've seen it posted on any of the f/a forums. I know that HMY-Airways is starting up out west. Just curious as to where you heard about it and if you could post the article on the forum.
Thanks

I have no idea if we will be getting anymore a/c in the near future. Our plan is to start off slow and small but I'm sure if the need is there we will aquire some more aircraft....if they'll be 737's I dont know.
