Nope, I have no idea on this airline, but, would be interested to hear more.
Originally called My Airways, they've now added "h" in front of it.
Why?
Any info?

Apparently the airline is starting up in November 2002.

I just read on another forum that all the rumors about HMY airways not being certified are false. They still plan to laucnh on Nov. 1st as BMIbunny said. Wish them luck in their endeavour. But apparently they have tons of money to back them!

There are some interesting postings on www.flightattendants.org (http://www.flightattendants.org) re certificate. The company has a statement that all is a go for Nov 1st - they are still pending certificate from Transport Canada - you can check out website at www.tc/gc/ca.com (http://www.tc/gc/ca.com) for details of their application.

Hey 4321zip..

sorry you don't like the new HMY livery.

I still think it beats the Pepto Bismol Boeing though - wow, those colours are scarily bright...It was quite the eye jerker at 6am on a grey dull Vancouver morning! images/icons/smile.gif

I get a fresh view of it every day as I walk to my work station.

It's really not that loud.... certainly not as bad as those recycled Braniff paint jobs Zip has.... I doubt they use tail lights at night... no need. I guess Air Can was tired of white.

HMY is an accranom (sp). MY are the initials of some relatives dear to the owner of the airline.

Since David Ho (founder) used his mother's initials (Rosita May Ying) as the original name for the airline, I guess that he decided to add his own (David Ho) as well...

Some interesting points:
- David Ho (now Dr. David Ho thanks to an Honorary degree from the University of Richmond in Virginia) is the son and heir of Charles T.K. Ho, who is a Hong Kong tycoon with close ties to the Chinese government and sole owner of Hong Kong Tobacco Co..
- David was a next-door neighbour and childhood friend of Jackie Chan in the posh waterfront neighbourhood where they grew up in Hong Kong.
- According to the HMY website (http://www.hmyairways.com/bill_cohen_bio.html), William S. Cohen (moderate Republican, and former Secretary of Defense for the U.S.A.) is the CEO of the airline, and has been since Dec. 30, 2002.

Is it just me, or is this weird and disturbing?

I am not sure i understand your point Buck.
What is the thing that you find disturbing?
Sorry i try to look at and dont find anything bad. :confus_2:
CEO is american, as a matter of fact we have another CEO that is also american @ AC.
The company is Canadian and by law they respect the foreign 25 % only investment.
Maybe i am blind,huh?
:wink_2:
