I read in the Montreal Gazette this week that, ADM would like to take over the control of St-Hubert airport, 15 mins south of Montréal. The newly merged city of Longueuil plans to either ask the feds the permission to develop the airport or let ADM do so.

ADM fears the competition if YHU develops, so it would like to have the control of the airport to force all airlines wishing to operate in Montréal, to oblige by their decisions of where they fly into.

Jetsgo, Westjet and Air Canada have already said that they wouldn't like the poor management of ADM to run YHU.

For Westjet, they already said in the past that if they fly into Montréal they would love to use YHU and even build a new terminal. If they do so, Jetsgo has all the chances to follow them to keep the costs down. Air Canada probably wants to keep its doors open...

YHU is closer to downtown and was the first international airport in Montréal. It was a military base up untill the feds close the base a few years ago. Now it is the busiest private airport in Canada.

Anyone in the know, I think ADM deserves some competition!

Hmmm....from what I've heard, the airport would also have to have a new runway put in to handle a 737-700 and bigger planes. Can you say AIF? Oh well, it's always nice to have new facilities or terminals built for us (wait until you see YYC D concourse) where ever we fly images/icons/smile.gif .

Hope it happens, but I won't hold my breath...still, this Alberta boy'd be real happy to be able to visit Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal as a vacation.
