According to Flight International, COPA is eyeing possible participation in Skyteam Alliance if US DoT approves the marketing cooperation between CO/DL/NW and eventually brings CO/NW into the alliance.
Continental currently holds 49% of COPA Airlines.
Copa operates a 737NG fleet on routes from their Central American bases to the USA and Canada, and, is rumoured to be looking at the lease of 767s for longer range routes.
"We see this as a great opportunity for us expanding ties with other airlines, especially Air France, Delta, KLM and Northwest," said Pedro Helibron, Copa president.
