hi candy bender
i flew only once to LAD we arrive at 0500am and leave at 0500pm as soon as we leave the airport, 2 cars with gunned men escort us to the meridien hotel which is in the center, buildings are covered with bullets holes, everything look so strange and scary. the company doesn t allow us to leave the hotel, and i swear i didn t wanted to break the rule!!
food is horrible, and the rooms look like cells in jails with smelling sheets and blankets. but they have some good movie channels! the only interest is the meal allowance: 120£ !
TAP -air portugal used to stay 1 week with the same allowance, but i don t know now if they do.
anyway i don t know how long BA will have layover, but good luck and follow the company instructions regarding this destination

pncairfrance is right, candy.
i also was only once in lda, taken out from the reserve, of course!
the only good thing is that we operate the flight on a b777.
the hotel is awful, the air condition works badly and you should take a shower as soon as you get into your room, that means early in the morning, otherwise you may not have any water any more if you try later during the day.
be also very carefull with the mosquitos, you have them also in your room and they resist to the insecticides.
about safety in the city: no comment, it's worse than in tlv.
