Korean Air President and CEO Shim Yi-taek will receive the award for "best business executive in aviation safety" from the Flight Safety Foundation (FSF) of the United States, airline officials said yesterday.
The award ceremony will be held in Dublin, Ireland tomorrow.
The FSF is a non-profit international aviation safety organization, conducting research, education and counseling for better air safety.
The foundation began awarding exceptional individuals or groups that show a high level of professionalism and service regarding safety.
Shim is reportedly praised for having invested heavily in improving pilot management systems, flight operations and information technology for enhanced safety.
