While the current FAA policy disallows all psychiatric medications, many pilots and a fair number of physicians believe mild depression or anxiety treated with certain medications should be approved by the FAA.

Some believe that since many pilots are already taking these medications without FAA approval, allowing these medications under certain circumstances would permit more control and improve safety.

What do you think?

Isn't it true that Prozac has several side effects? I just wonder what kind of side effects it gives to a patient. images/icons/confused.gif
The other day I was watching "Sex and the city" on HBO. There was a story line about a guy who was taking Prozac and one of the side effects was that he couldn't perform sexualy. He just couldn't get it up! images/icons/rolleyes.gif
I guess, if it is true, flight attendants don't have to worry about some pilots trying to come on to them. images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/grin.gif Just kidding!

I have been personaly effected by anti-depressants and it was determined as a main cause of my sibling's death.
Whenever you are prescribed this, please get a second opinion.
My sibling was prescribed an anti-depressant which altered that person's thinking where this person did LOTS and LOTS of irrational things and did themself in by suicide.
It was found that because of a condition that my sibling had, a chemical blocked some nerves in the brain which made this person act the way this person did.
If it works for you , SUPER,,,,
My experince in this made me VERY LEARY towards anyone who is on this. I have heard you might have to take another pill just to get off of the anti depressant.......

well, when it happened 3 yrs ago, my family had lots of threatening phone calls from some people. I know I'm not the only one who is affected by this so i just rather say it was a sibling of some age, remaining ambiguous.
