I use an over-the-counter medicine called "Loratyn". The active ingredient is Loratadin. It comes in fizzy tablets, and one is enough for 24 hours. Works for me! Doesn't make me drowsy or tired, either.
Just looked it up, and in English they call it Claritin.

Claritin (Loratadine), Clarinex (Desloratadine) and Allegra (Fexofenadine) are effective and acceptable to the FAA provided no negative side effects are experienced.

GB,
My MD told me that meds like Claritin can take anywhere from two to four weeks to effectively stop allergy symptoms. And for some, those (expensive!) meds don't work at all. I have a friend who suffered horribly and nothing helped, so she gets weekly shots.
And yes, my allergies were MUCH worse when flying. I'm not too sure why.

I've been taking Claratin lately for my Spring allergies...it doesn't seem to help much. I've taken Tylenol allergy nightime and it's great because I don't get the sinus headaches when I lie down and I can even sleep without being ALL jittery! Yeah for the "blue bombers"!
Some of my pilot friends take it with them when they are flying, it helps them get to sleep!
I've actually found something better than tylenol night time but you have to order it.
