The Charlotte Business Journal reported today that USAirways intends to reduce capacity up to an additional 12% by the end of this year in addition to the 20% it has already decreased. Thats 32% total. What do you guys think about this.

As other airlines increase their flights, US Airways is decreasing them. What's the deal with that? I'm wondering if US Airways will even be around in a few years?

What ????
Reduce flights." Are they mad? "Austin Powers

If you ask me, it sounds like a illogical way to run a business. Other airlines are finding it necessary to add flights because people are actually flying. If we don't have much to offer for our customers, they are going to go elsewhere. When we non-rev, you just go with the flow and you make a day of it to get yourself from point A to point B.

Speaking to a reliable source today, I was told that June will be the month when we see flights actually increase. Did you know we are adding 6 caribbean destinations this year? Oh well, I guess when something actually gets added then Ill believe it.

All the airlines are adding flights. Whether they are the majors or the cheap,no frills carriers. Regardless, they have found it necessary to add flights.

I have been looking and looking for the article in the Charlotte business journal and cannot find it, it's not that I don't believe it could be true but with so many of us out there hopeing and praying for things to get better and our airline improve so we can get back to work, I for one would appreciate a link or something so I can read it for myself, sometimes rumours get out of hand and the last thing some of us need is negative gossip now, so give me a link and let's see this article. Thanks

I wish I could give you a link however the article wasnt in the business it was on their latest breaking news section that is updated daily. I read the article online on April 4th, last week. Unfortunately at the beginning of each week they delete the previous weeks latest breaking news.I have tried to find he article but can't. Sorry. I can tell you that I wouldnt make this up, and I wonder if they were refering to Charlotte reducing flights or the company as a whole. Wish I could be more specific but I cant. I for one dont believe the article. Just this week USAirways Today said the company will increase service to Dallas, Chicago, and Detroit out of its Philadelphia hub. Alot of this information can be found on USAirways.com. or on the online site of the hub at thehub.usairways.com. HOpe I helped some.

USAir, now US Airways, was my first airline that I flew for. I hope you guys start adding flights again soon! I still have many friends who fly over their and I want you guys to stay around! I hope Mr. Red Carpet can get things rolling over at US Airways! Good luck to all of you. images/icons/grin.gif

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Hustler! I had to travel on AA tonight for a family emergency. Everything is going to be okay. I have to tell you what a lovely interior your Super 80 had. Even our newest planes sometimes suffer in comparison. It makes you wonder if anyone from our management team EVER flies the competition.

I worked for American years ago. (long story) Being back on your aircraft reminded me of what it was like to work at a top tier carrier, although US Airways has many good points, namely our overwhelmingly friendly crews. Anyway, I think your planes are awesome.

We're gonna make it. Maybe under a different logo but we'll make it. Thanks again.

I think we'll be ok guys.... our flights are full... at least the ones that I work! images/icons/wink.gif

We may merge with some carrier someday... I just hope Wolf does not reduce us so much that we only have RJ's in our fleet. I do not want to go from flying the Airbus330 to Europe, to flying a RJ to some redneck town like Asheville, North Carolina.

I just hope our seniority will be ok. images/icons/frown.gif

Or an RJ PHL-LGW!! images/icons/wink.gif

Well, I don't know if I'm welcome on this part of the board (since I work for your competition), but can I just tell y'all how impressed I am with all the USAirways employees? I spent some time in BWI, and I ran across so many great employees that worked for you. And now we have several that are coming from USAirways to Southwest, and they're all so wonderful, I just cringe at what USAir is losing.

I wanted you to know that you guys are truly wonderful, based on everything I've seen. It's just too bad that your management isn't as great, or you guys would be a much more powerful carrier. And whether it's the competition or not, it's hard to watch anyone in this industry be furloughed. It hits close to home.

So will you guys just do me a favor? If the day ever comes that you decide to call it quits at USAirways (or USAirways decides to call it quits), would you consider coming to interview with us at Southwest? Because if the ex-USAir employees I have seen are any indication, you are truly world-class.

I flew on US Airways a few years ago (just before you guys got your scarebusses). I must say that I was really impressed with the friendliness of your crews. Keep up the good work

a friend last year flew MAN-PHL-ORD-PHL-MAN and said it was the best trans-Atlantic flight he'd flown and was much better than UA and AA.
he was distressed to learn of US/UA merger (now off) because of how it was better on US. crew that looked well "groomed" and were really friendly. and plenty of legroom on the A330 and Boeing 737.
i hope you don't continue to cut services, we do miss MAN-PHL which is coming back! because according to my friend, he will now only (where possible) fly US AIRWAYS to the USA!
and that is a true story!

Hopefully flights will be added soon. Because, now the airlines are allowed to increase the amount of flights that depart and arrive from DCA.
