I just read that furloughed US AIRWAYS employees will get travel benefits for 9 months.
I read about this on another message board. As I get more information, I will be back to this message board with this information. Anyone else with information is welcome to post here for everyone elses' benefit.

Those of us that were originally terminated and now we are currently on "Furlough" status were told we did not qualify for any traditional furlough benefits, it was part of the deal for us to get our jobs back (at least to be put back on a recall list). The information you came across, does it include us as well?

I know that you were wondering if those of you who were terminated in september because you were still on probation , whether or not you qualify.
I can try to find out more information in that regard and I will post it here.

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!

Well here it is, I dug this information from the latest news from the US Airways Pilots Union website, this is regarding the furlough benefits. Here it is:

Item 3. US Airways announced yesterday that it is offering extended travel pass benefits to furloughed employees. Any employee who is furloughed between Sept. 11, 2001, and April 30, 2002, will be entitled to continue (or restart) employee and family pass benefits for an additional nine months, through Jan. 31, 2003.

The Company stated that these pass benefits will be available using the Service Charge option, which requires payment of a service charge each time an individual flies. Under this option, one-way domestic travel is $10 and round-trip is $20, plus applicable service charge taxes. Currently a domestic round-trip pass, with service charge taxes included, is $32.50. These benefits will be available for the employee and immediate family, including domestic partners, but will not be available for parents or companions.

It's not a job but it's a great perk for now!!!!!

Well I must say, having US Airways give us our travel benefits back is a huge plus for them in my book. I think it shows there is some compassion left in a large corporation for the underlings that do all the work. I am so grateful to them for this peace offering. And on a quick note, I haven't seen any of the other major airlines offering such a perk to their furloughee's.

Once I was very skeptical of returning to US Airways to work after being tossed out on my royal you-know-what!, but my feelings of loyalty just may be returning. Am I wrong?

I am off to the Carribean May 1, then a few stops in the US and then I am off to tackle Europe -First Class of course!

Happy Flying :-)
