There are road shows that will be going on to promote the new business plan. Hopefully, this means we will get more information.

According to what I read . Our CEO was there and he said that: one of our widebody a/c would be eliminated from the fleet, lowest paid employees would be asked for less in regards to having to accept paycuts, more regional jets, a codeshare alliance with another airline.
He also stated that he would try to avoid any additional furloughs, and management will be taking paycuts, too.
He mentioned that Potomac Air would be a possibility of offering interim employment to those 11,000 employees already furloughed, but he said that is contingent upon how many regional jets they get.
If I find out more, I will pass on the information on.
There are more road shows to come.

Anybody going to the Philadelphia session Tuesday that wants to meet up let me know...we can form a support group before we go in. images/icons/smile.gif I have a couple of questions I'm working on. I don't think I'll get good answers, but I figure when else am I going to get to voice my opinion to the CEO?

Ok guys Ill tell you what Ive heard from people out in the field. These are all rumors since I didnt hear it from the source but here goes. Pilots are being asked to take 40% cuts, 22% for flight attendands. Gate agent 5%. Thats all Ive heard so far specifically. Once again I heard it online not from the source so take it with a grain of salt.
When you go to the road show ask this "How about Mr. Wolf, Mr. Avis and all other management personnel taking pay cuts?" This will get the meeting off to a great start!

Hustler,
As I've heard, that's already being discussed in the meeting. Everyone's being asked to take cuts. The higher the pay, the larger the percentage of the cut is the gist of it. And while I most certainly agree that management needs to take some hefty cuts themselves, now is not the time to start pointing fingers and throwing blame. All it does is cause an even greater rift between the employees and management at a time when they desperately need to be working towards the same goal: saving USAirways.
(this is JMHO)
At any rate, best of luck guys. We're all rooting for you! images/icons/smile.gif

I think that each and every one of us wants to see US AIRWAYS succeed. I really don't think anyone wants to see us go bankrupt or go out of business. It would be a very sad day for 36,000 dedicated employees. The sad reality is that at the present time the job market is not a good place now, even if you have a marketable skill or a college education. I know many who were furloughed and still have not been able to find another job and their unemployment compensation is about to run out for good.
Yes, we have had CEOs who had lousy business plans that turned out to be a great failure. Yes, I think that Wolf and Gangwal squandered a lot of opportunities and made many strategic missteps. But that is the past and nothing can be done about it. But, of course we can do something about the present and future.
Personally, I would hate to see things go from bad to worse. I don't really relish the idea of taking a pay cut, but if it means I still have a job and still get paychecks every month instead of an unemployment check, ok I will settle for that. If we make these sacrifices for the short term, so our long term situation improves.
I say this because, I can testify to the fact that the job market is not good now.
