I was at Mojave Airport today. I saw some of our 737-200s and DC-9s today.
Many of the airlines send their planes out here to Mojave , California to park their planes. As it was said before, the DC-9s, MD-80s, F-100s , and 737-200 have been parked . They are longer in our fleet.
Today, I got a tour of a facility where some of these aircraft get repainted when other firms by the aircraft. So, I got a really up close look at the DC-9s and 737s. But, I could not take pictures;there was a prohibition on taking photographs, alot of legal issues there.
From a distance, I saw all of our F-100s. I don't think we have a buyer yet, if ever.
Well it was interesting.

Thanks for sharing, quick! I've always wanted to go out there. Too bad they wouldn't let you take photos. Can you buy stuff like seats there? I'd like a seat set for my new apartment if I ever make it out of my crashpad alive. images/icons/frown.gif

You look at all these pictures of planes parked up at Mojave Airport and it is very sad! images/icons/frown.gif
There are loads of Boeings, Airbuses, Douglases and Fokkers.
So, say I wanted to buy those Fokker 100s, who would I have to get in touch with, is it Mojave, US Airways or is it a leasing company?

I do agree though - it must be a sad sight.

To answer your question about the legaal issues. The airlines don't like to have people take pictures of the planes. This is especially true when work is being done on the plane. A lot of the airlines want the logos on the aircraft painted over in the meantime.

They have these firms that do maintenance on the planes and repaint them, too. These planes that used to be in our fleet; airlines of third world countries and charters can buy these planes. I know some of our MD80s and DC9s went to Mexico, and I saw that some of our 737-200s were painted for a regional airline in Italy, sorry that I don't remember the name.

I too agree it is sad to see all those beautiful 'planes, and I would love to see them in the air again soon.

I was out at MHV last year and managed to get a few pictures (it helped that I was representing a client who actually was considering leasing some planes).
