Do you guys ever look at the standby list on the manifest when deciding to comp upgrade non-revs? I know its against regs but when we do it anyway, I don't think it's fair to upgrade somebody JUST because they are cabin crew. If I have extra seats I try to move up the deadheaders first, then off duty employees (by their place on the list, regardless of their position with the company) then our own companions, then offline pass riders. It's all there on the manifest, in order.

One reservationist I moved up said it was the first time anyone had ever offered to do that in her 17 years with the company!!??

I like a break as much as the next stew, but if you've got room and the time, take care of your non-revs (and please consider ALL of them, not just the flight attendants.)

I have to agree with JetStewUS, it is important to try to upgrade other non-revs besides cabin crew if possible. Yes , I am guilty of upgrading non-revving pilots and flight attendants when I was flying, regardless of airline. I would almost always upgrade deadheading crews, especially when I had vacant First Class seats available.
I know that I should take the time to read the PAX manifest to look out for non-revs. So, that way ramp, mechanics, reservations, and others get the opportunity to get upgraded to First Class based upon availability. I will do my best to remember this when I go back to work next month.
When I was flying before getting involuntarily furloughed, not only would I upgrade our own pilots and flight attendants, but also other airlines, too. It does not matter if they were United,American, Southwest, Delta, Continental, Northwest, or etc. etc. . We are all cabin crew at the end of the day. Yes, I would upgrade them.

While I appreciate your input and validate your concern. I must tell you that I feel very differently when it comes to this subject.

ABSOLUTLEY!!!! I am going to take care of my people first. When was the last time an agent upgraded you for free or failed to taka a coupon ? When was the last time you called reservations to list or to recive information without the agent rudley reminding you that "you should be using the VRU line".

I agree that we should not limit our generosity to Crew Members only for we all work for the same company and we must take care of ourselves since US Airways does not. But if im the "A" you better belive that Pilots and F/A's will be upgraded first.

In the case of F/A's we are one of the LOWEST paid work groups in the entire company. If your on B scale you cant even afford to buy the upgrades even if you wanted to.

In Solidarity-

I think we should be careful not to generalize one group of employees as rude. Granted, I've run into less than pleasant ground staff but have had more opportunities to fly with f/a's I'd rather not see again.

People are going to do it the way they want and I appreciate your views. I just try to live by the conviction that what goes around comes around. images/icons/smile.gif

When I go back to work next month,If I have vacancies in first class, I will be sure to upgrade non-revs. If I see that they are one of us, I have usually brought them up to first class. Fellow flight attendants have done it for me when I have travelled on my own time. The day I graduated from flight attendant training class two years ago, and I flew from PIT - LAX. The "A" Flight Attendant(it was a PIT crew), she brought me up to first class. I remember all this like it was only yesterday. And, to this day I saw what a wonderful graduation present for successfully making it through the "Barbie Boot Camp". I just thought that I would share that story with all of you.
HAVE A NICE DAY images/icons/grin.gif

JetStewUS I completely agree with the way you upgrade, I also believe that US Airways should make upgrading employees a mandatory policy -gratis. Like Delta, TWA(used to), and others so non revs can board with other customers with first class seat assigned.

Right now I am on my settling days. Everyday I have been flying between LGA and PHL. Already I have been upgraded to first class on nearly full flights and I got first class. I was appreciative of that. I am commuting home everyday to take care of things at home before I go back on duty sunday afternoon.
