I work for another carrier and I thought early last year US had planned to start service to PDX from the core hubs in PIT, PHL, CLT in the fall of 2001? Anyway, I realized after the 9-11 drama US had put PDX in the "back-burner", but I still notice US still has not started PDX. Is US planning on PDX anytime soon or SLC in the near future? Or did US start this service and I am not aware of it?

I think USAirways put plans for those routes on the back-burner for the time being.

Unfortunately, it seems that US Airways has been slow to add flights while others have found it necessary to add. Sure it is great that we have flights to The Carribean and Europe, and yes those are some of the only flights that have been added to the system timetable for mainline. It is evident that numerous domestic flights have been 'farmed out' to express carriers, and they no longer exist as mainline flights. Of course, at the express carriers the pilots and flight attendants make less than what we make. But , once again, in all due respect, everyone out there has to make a living and I am quite capable of understanding that. I can see the company adding more regional jets.
I personally think that we should add more flights, especially domestic flights. We should have an ambitious business plan where we add new domestic destinattions and open new bases. Yes indeed, it would be a major undertaking and yes it would cost money. But, it is either CHOICE A or CHOICE B for US Airways: it has to be either"up or out" for US Airways. Well, that is what I think, just a thought.
