Ok, so they're not NEW uniforms, but they are relaxed! ;-) According to Dave's Friday message, effective IMMEDIATELY, no uniformed employee is required to wear his/her blazer. So if it's 35 degrees in Albany in November and you want to wear short sleeves, have at it! Also, new is the implementation of a new cardigan sweater for both men and women. Dial up to US Daily and listen to what he has to say.

Skyboi, I hope your new cardigan is not from the same company as the one we have @ CO. It's supposedly a Navy blue, but naturally...doesn't match the rest of the uniform and looks like crap.

Oh, I'm sure it's the same company and I'm SURE it won't match any of the navy we already have. I, personally, don't plan on wearing it, anyway, but it's nice to have options and to get away from the communist world!

Yeah, I'll have to agree with you on that. When I was with Express (USAir, that is), at least we had pocket squares and different tie options...especially liked the mauve....but now it seems as if you're drowning in a sea of blue.

Sky boi,
Does the new policy apply to domestic and international?

CO757, yes, the policy applies to both the Transatlantic and Domestic Divisions.

I hate to bitch but I will anyway because I'm a flight attendant and that's a big part of my job...I don't like the CBS message we got about this new cardigan. The language seemed a bit hateful to me. You can ONLY buy it with a credit card - NO payroll deduction and NO Refunds! NO wearing it on the shoulders or around the waist! ONLY wear the serving garment OVER the sweater and not UNDER it! Duh! Maybe I'm being overly sensitive...because I'm that kind of guy...but alot of what comes to us from Crystal City has a really pissy tone.
I agree with Earblock on the color thing. "Welcome aboard US Airways...we're sorry for your loss..." Hey guys, how about a splash of red on the tie or some silver stripes on the jackets...something that makes us look more like swingin' stews and less like pall-bearers!
One positive note: Now maybe all those fashion plates that have been wearing their own cardigans will put those naff things away! Every shade of blue and every possible pattern or design...now that's classy! I suspect they will just keep their own rather than fork out the 30 bucks. I'm gonna get one so I can be cool and have the TOTAL ACRYLIC EXPERIENCE. I hear it burns real good. images/icons/tongue.gif

It should be fun to see how fast it takes the ladies on the line to snap up those sweaters to wear with their dresses; the Old Italian Grandmother Look is a-coming, and it ain't gonna be pretty. With all the rules regarding the sweater in that CBS message, it somehow inadvertently left out procedures for sticking Kleenex up the sleeves.
But hey, if it stops those flight attendants from wrapping themselves up in envoy blankets and walking up and down the aisles, I'm all for it.

Since we've had both long sleeve sweaters AND cardigans at Northwest for some years now, I can tell you with certainty that no matter how many rules and regulations USAirways comes up with, you will see your colleagues breaking every single one of them.
To most of us it seems OBVIOUS that a uniform sweater should not be wrapped around the hips of some big-bootied girl as she sashays through an airport terminal. But you're gonna see it.
And because USAirways is charging for the cardigan, there will be flight attendants who will say "Well if I have to spend MY money to buy a cardigan, then I'm going to buy what I like!" as they slip on the sky-blue or silver grey number they picked-up on a sale table at Mervyn's.
It's a sad fact in this industry, that the more uniform options you give to flight attendants, the more ways they will find to make themselves look god-awful...
