I was curious to know how many of you would be interested in a possible New Years Eve party in
LAX.

The Party would be aboard the RMS Queen Mary in
Long Beach California. For those of you that havent heard of the Queen Mary. Shes the only ship left in the world that looks like the Titanic, only Bigger!

The ship does not sail, The ship is docked for the party. The New Years Eve party begins at 8:00pm PST on 31, December. Ending at 01:30

Each of the ball rooms aboard the ship play different music. They have everything from Big Band music to top 40 hits.

Most people consider it a black tie event, though a tuxedo or formal dress arent required. Though it is suggested to wear one.

Tickets for the Queen Mary NYE party are $79.00
a piece. the price does not include food or booze.
I usually down several beers before i go to the ship, and I usually bring a flask full of booze with me since the drinks on the ship are kinda spendy.

I stay at the Carson Hilton, Carson Ca.
very nice Hotel halfway between LAX and the ship.
Currently the room rate is $79.00 a night (airline rate) for two queen beds or one king. If enough people decide to go Im sure I can try to get the rooms discounted to $69.00 a night. If enough rooms are booked the hotel will give us free transportation to/from the Queen Mary.

with no traffic the hotel is 20 minutes from LAX.

You would also have to option of Spending the night aboard the Queen Mary in a First Class stateroom. To spend the night aboard ship, the cost is $699.00 per couple, and includes a bottle of champagne in your stateroom, your tickets to the party a three corse dinner in the First Class dining room as well as a photo of the two of you.

for those of you that would like more info or to see pictures/details about the Queen Mary,
Go to WWW.QueenMary.com (http://WWW.QueenMary.com) or leave a reply in here and I will get back to you.

I know its difficult to tell if you can make it being that this is only September, but please let me know if you are interested as rooms are going fast.

Another option...If youre cheap like me and would like to spend a night aboard the ship in a First Class cabin but you dont want to spend the $699.00.... Arrive Decmber 31, party all night onboard... spend the night at the Hilton. Then the night of Jan 1st book a room aboard the ship.
an avg First Class stateroom will run around $100.00.... A First Class Executive Stateroom (second largest kind of room on the ship) will run between $150.00 - $175.00 for a night.

Or you could go all out and get a full suite Largest First Class stateroom ever put on a ship for I believe its around $450.00 a night

That sounds like a lot of fun - what's dress code? I'm just wondering if I need to shell out a few hundred bucks for a dress + manicure + pedicure + hair stylist + brazillian wax (I'm still ready!), etc., or if I could just wear my burlap-sack dress. I also have a fabulous t-shirt with a fuzzball stuck to it that says "Somebunny in Bend, Oregon Luvs Me".

hey now the only reason I made this post was so I could get a few of you to go so I can save 10 bucks on my room!!!!!!!!

The dress code, A tuxedo for the guys and formal dress for the ladies is suggested, however not mandatory. LOL they wont let you onboard wearing a t-shirt or burlap dress. If youre not in black tie, you still have to be dressed up.

Ive been to the ship countless times and Ive attended the New Years Eve party on the Queen Mary
Six times.... you have to take my word that there is nothing else like it. I must say I have the time of my life everytime I go.

If you book the Carson Hilton at the "Best Available Rate" on Hilton.com, it currently comes up with $76.00. Pretty nice.

I won't be able to be there, due to the fact that it's pretty busy around here at that time.

Sounds like lots of fun but unfortunately, I am gonna be out of commission for awhile. Hopefully, by spring, my wings will be back images/icons/wink.gif

Just 'cause I'm chained to the fence, doesn't mean I can't bark at the cars!

Babe,

I am so completely interested in going...but I'm thinking that I'm going to be laid up and on drugs for New Year's...I hope you have a wonderful, safe, loads-of-fun-kind-of-holiday, though! Have a drink (...or two...or ten) for me! I'll mix a shot of butterscotch w/my pain killers...and kiss my cat at midnight...and be thinking of y'all! Take care!
