View Full Version : NYC for American Thanksgiving

It's possible that I will be in the NYC area during this holiday, assisting with field operations during the travel period.

I've been cleared by the boss to set this trip up. I just have to get some calendar dates set.

I'll keep you posted as soon as I do. Anyone living in the NYC area, working into there, or close to there, what say we have a mini-meeting, dinner and/or drinks, while I'm in town?

I'll know something more definite on my plans by Monday or Tuesday.

You may need to check if there's enough space for a few cases of champagne and wine, too, yoshi! images/icons/wink.gif

I'm still working on how long I'll be there. So far, it looks like I'll be flying in on Monday, 11/25, and out on Monday, 12/2.

As far as when I would be available to meet anyone, right now it looks like 11/25 and 11/26 are open. I'm still checking into 11/29 and 11/30.

I haven't booked my travel yet, but as soon as I do, I'll let you know. images/icons/smile.gif

My travel is booked! I'll be flying in on Monday, 11/25, and out on Monday, 12/2.

I can meet anyone there on the evenings of 11/25, 11/29 and 11/30. Thanksgiving is on 11/28, and there is an opportunity for something that evening also, for those of you who are going to have layovers that evening. images/icons/smile.gif

Hey my Super Hero, what a very good idea, and Studley you got it right!
I'll do my best to join for the 11/29 or 11/30.
I'll cross fingers our Flight Deck Crew wont do the same as last time for SFO meeting. images/icons/grin.gif
As for the bookings, well there are enough AF flights a day so I will see on time. In case, I know who to call .... images/icons/wink.gif
I'll be on vacs from 11/15 to 11/24. I'll keep you inform before and after my vacs.

I'm definitely going to be there, since I'm working that week. I'm already booked for the trip. Since it's yoshi's area, she has already said that she'll be there.

Audrey, skygirl, and you are all working on being there, but, understandably, nothing's totally definite at this time. At least those are the vibes I get.

No one else has said anything, and I don't know anyone else's work schedule. I was hoping that more people would be working into NYC and on layovers, but it may be too early to tell.

Since American Thanksgiving is a major holiday travel period, I am not anticipating any SFO-type numbers, because many people will want to be with their families.

Hey Studely- waiting to hear an update.... :wink_2: :wink_2:

Studley
November 17, 2002, 08:45 PM
I'm still going to be there, starting on 11/25, but I won't have any free time until at least 12 Noon on Thanksgiving Day. I'll have Friday and/or Saturday off, then I have to work on Sunday.

I fly back to DFW on Monday, 12/2.

Anyone else have any updates on their plans?

As far as what I want to do, that depends on how many people are there.

Studley

Update #2 - Things have changed from my post last night.

I'll be in Albany, NY on 11/26 and 11/27, which more than likely means I'll be overnighting there on 11/25 and 11/26. At present, it seems I'm needed up there more than in NYC.

I'll also have to rethink how much free time I'll have in NYC, since I may have to work in Albany on 12/1 as well.

I'll keep y'all posted.

Studley
November 24, 2002, 02:09 PM
Well, I'll meet yoshi at EWR briefly tomorrow, after touchdown. It seems that we'll be the only two people meeting.

Still looking like Friday night and all day Saturday, as far as free time goes for me. And that depends on whether or not I can fully shake this bug I caught last Thursday.

While I'm feeling better than I have in the last few days, I'm cautious about how I'll feel when I start this trip.

he he he!! Well happy to report that Studley made it into NYC ok, however can't say the same about his luggage! He should be on his way to Albany by now, I really hope you have your bag Studley otherwise it will be a chillllllyyy nite!!  That's what you get for blaming it on the ticket agents! :mad_2:

By the way, how did you know my favorite scent on a guy is Farenheit?? :wink_2:

Hi yoshi.
How is Studley feeling? His cold any better? Wish I could have made the trip. Some 18 year old snot (and he was so cocky when we were before the lawyers) changed my plans! :frown_2:

Glad he made it safely. :smile_2:

Studley
November 25, 2002, 08:02 PM
Well yoshi,

Fahrenheit's a favorite scent of a lot of ladies. So you detected it, eh? :wink_2:

No, I still don't have the bag. Luckily, the jacket I have is rated to -20 degrees F.

I deserved that, didn't I, for picking on those poor defenseless ticket agents. :frown_2:

However, you're still my hero. And guys, she is a cutie!

skygirl, I'm getting better, but still not totally out of the woods yet. The flight was fine, no problems with ear pressure on descent. Thanks for asking.

Oh, mystere - where are you?

yoshi
November 26, 2002, 07:17 AM
Hey Skygirl! Studley did seem better though that may be another story now that he's in freezing weather w/out any clothes!! Sorry you couldn't make it up here, you know maybe we can go down and visit you!

Why Studley, thanks for the compliment. And yes butt is much cuter in person. Now don't forget- thongs are much more cheaper than brief when you go shopping!

Actually, yoshi, it was the other way around. The CK briefs I saw at Macy's in NYC (34th Street) today were cheaper than their thongs. Go figure.

Well Studley looks like you had the trip from hell! First they lose your luggage and now you missed your flight! Oh I had a good laugh this morning! Don't you know those "airport agents" don't care what the excuse is why you missed your flight? Sorry I couldn't meet you on your shopping expedition, you can show me all the new thongs you bought in Detroit! :wink_2:

Mystere, let's try again in Detroit??

Don't you know those "airport agents" don't care what the excuse is why you missed your flight?

I think they did care, when they saw the baggage information in there. LOL

Anyway, I'M HOME!!!! :smile_2:

There was an accident on the 495 at Waukeegan (sp.), where an 18-wheeler lost its cargo. This totally blocked the Lincoln Tunnel, and we had to take the Holland Tunnel to get there.

The airport bus arrived at 09:30, which was the departure time of the flight. :frown_2:

I flew standby (for the first time) and got the second-to-last seat on the next flight. I can see how nerve-wracking a process it is for a lot of y'all, and you definitely have my respect and admiration.

On a positive note, I received my reimbursement of $150 (for my incidental expenses for this week) at the airport, and the claim form was sent out while I was there, according to the printout of all the activity done since I first reported the claim. :smile_2:

And I got to talk to Nixe this morning. :smile_2:
