Hi there!
To clear things up, yes we do have a new uniform that was introduced this spring. The only thing that might remind you of the seventies might be the pillbox hat that some might consider retro. It was already part of the Lufthansa uniform in the sixties and seventies and adds a very elegant look.
Unfortunately there are no pics to be found of the new uniform...
Goodday from Bavaria!

Hi all!
I recently had the opportunity to fly on LH from FRA to MUC and back. I have to say that the service was great and I really like the leather seats in the planes...even in economy where us young docs have to fly.
As for the uniforms they were very elegant yet functional.
From what I saw at the gates you can wear a blazer and skirt, blazer and pants, vest and pants, and the blouse can be white or dark blue with yellow trim. But the piece de resistance is the hat....very nice touch. I cant remember what was worn before, so maybe the look is retro.
Whatever look the LH people were going for, I think they got it right...in my mind the uniforms match the cars on the autobahn...sleek, sophisticated, elegant, posh, stylish. As you can tell I am tired of wearing scrubs!

Yes, I suppose the uniform has some retro elements, although more 50s/60s than 70s. What with slim tailored jackets, knee-length skirts, large rectangular handbags and 'pillbox' hats, the designers clearly had something like the Jackie Kennedy look in mind for inspiration. Other elements are more contemporary fashion, especially the cute, straight-leg 'hipster' trousers. The only element that reminds me of the 70s is the outdoor coat - straight cut, padded and made of a shiny material.
Most of us seem to be rather happy with the design of the uniform (given that for almost two decades, we'd been stuck with that dreadful 1980s C&A look...), but not so happy with the fabrication. There are some serious quality faults (seams tearing easily, colour fades quickly, shirts material is too heavy and warm etc.), which make you wonder why they bothered to run (and assess) a test wear phase!
But all in all, a great improvement!
