So Guy - pardon, Airbus 320 - you're a true colleague! I too fly A 320 family (i.e. 319/320/321) on short haul, and I'm very fond of "my" plane! So much more user-friendly than anything Boeing has ever come up with....
Just for info: About half of FRA based crews who fly short-haul fly A 320 family. About one quarter fly B 737 and the last quarter fly A 310 and 300.

Hi Katharina,
Enjoying that you like Airbus As much as I do,it's good to her that there is somebody else who appreciates these planes, although I must say I have nothing against Boeing either. But Airbus is so much more comfortable!!
So, You Fly Medium Haul?
Does did mean that you never fly long haul, for example 747-400, or maybe Airbus 330-340?
I thought most of the people at Lufthansa Fly mixed (both hedium as long haul)PS Let me complement you on your English!!!!Airbus 320

Hi Airbus, it is totally mixed at LH with flying Short-, Medium- or Longhaul. Only fa´s based in FRA and MUC fly Longhaul. Most of them also fly Short-/Medium Haul, depending of their Seniority or their language skills. If you have a high Seniority or speak some special languages needed in a special area, you may fly only Longhaul if you wish to. At LH we have so called areas, some people like them, most don´t, because the world is devided in destinations and every area has its own destination. e.g. Area NL has SIN, JFK, THR, TLV... and also fly on A310/A306 together with B744.
Then there are three more areas either on continental and intercontinental flights. Area NX is for all flight-attendants from the other bases as Berlin, Nuremberg, Hamburg, Cologne/Bonn, Dusseldorf, Bremen. I -for example- am stationed in Berlin, so I only fly on continental routes on Boeing B737-300/500 and Airbus A306/310/319/320/321.

To put that a little simpler (no offence, flyboy...): When you first begin, you'll fly either mixed from FRA or MUC or short/medium haul from any other base.
We don't really have medium haul as a distinct group. Anything from domestic German (yes, that race course FRA-MUC! 3 crew to 150 pax and 28 mins flight time!) up to about 4 hours (e.g. Moscow, Beirut, Casablanca etc.) is regarded as "continental" (or "KONT" in LH speak) and operated by short haul crews + equipment. Everything beyond that (you guessed it: INTERKONT) is B747 and A340.
Hopes that's solved some of the confusion images/icons/smile.gif

Hi Flyboy and Katharina,
Thanks For Your replies, it's much more clearer to me now.
As i'm hoping to be flying from Frankfurt,I hope I can fly mixed.
Do you Guy's now if they are currently short on Europe,(KONT),then I now that there is a big chance I will be doing that first ,now?
Not that I mind doing that, I would already be happy doing anything at Lufthansa, and schould it be Europe, that would be fine by me!, sorry I mean KONT, I have to start using this official Lufthansa jargon no?
I have another question, but this time regarding crewnet. If I log in than you can see who is currently visiting the site.If you than for example enter the "Lufthansa Forum",(wich is by the way absoluttely great) you get the people who are on that moment on the forum , e.g Airbus , Katharina, Flyboy and 3 guests.
I just wonder , does this mean that you are just like me reading new messages and replying to a topic or are you chatting away somewhere with each other.(I, think not , because the chat always seems to be empty!)
Anyway, thanks again and I'mhappy I now you to now Flyboy.
Take care you both ande talk to you soon.

Hi Airbus 320,
it is exactly as you said. We do not chat around when being, though this would be an idea... images/icons/smile.gif
But when the nicknames are at the top of the topic page, these people are right now in this forum as well. At the main page everybody is listed who is at the whole forum in either topic.
As I have heard LH only wants to hire about 200-250 fa´s this year, and I do not think that there will be many people based on the outside bases. Although I heard that BER, NUE, BRE, HAM, CGN, DUS gave back 700-900 tours (Umläufe)to FRA as they could not roster them because we have not enough people images/icons/frown.gif

Hi Flyboy,(and Katharina)
I totally agree,it would be a great idea if maybe one day we could meet on the chat as I have the idea that nobody uses it anyway!
Maybe we even gonna start a new trend here on crewnet , who nows!!
Anyway,I 'm gonna let you now when I get my letter from LH (So keep your fingers crossed)
Happy landings to you all
Ps thanks for the info

Airbus, why don't you call them and ask whether they're recruiting for any external bases? That is, if you'd prefer to be based there. I don't think it's any "easier" to get hired for an external base (if that was your question?) - the interviews and standards are all the same. And as Flyboy said, they probably don't need that many people there (some bases only consist of 100 people total, while Frankfurt has almost 10.000!). Nor will you autumatically be sent anywhere you don't want to go. I believe you can state in your application whether you want to apply for Frankfurt or an external base. If you want to make sure you get in at any rate, maybe you should tell them that you'd be willing to do either.
Obviously, Frankfurt has the advantage of greater variety in your flights and destinations, and of more free time because the long-haul flights earn you so many block hours. That said, many externals love their bases and wouldn't leave them for the world - because they are smaller and cosier, and because they have greater choice of where to live (without commuting). The decision is up to you, and of course it depends on whether you like short haul or long haul better. Long haul is generally very popular at LH (mainly, I guess, because you get so much time off), but there are also quite a few people (including myself) who prefer short haul. It's just great hopping around Europe, being here one evening, there the next! Crews are smaller, there's more communal spirit, and you keep getting fresh air, fresh catering, fresh cleaning and fresh pax during your work day images/icons/wink.gif And much less exhausting (in my humble opinion) - especially as, right now, they're planning a big bad cost-cutting reform on long haul flights that should make our work there A LOT harder.
Munich sounds like a jolly nice compromise to me - it's also a very attractive city. Unfortunately I believe they'e not recruiting at the mo.
Hope your letter arrives any day now!
