Lufthansa said it will cut domestic fares by as much as 63 per cent as it fights growing competition from low-cost rivals entering the German market.
Passengers must book tickets two days in advance and can't change their reservations to qualify for the new low prices, Lufthansa is reacting to growing competition from Ryanair which is expanding from Frankfurt Hahn and Germania which is starting no-frills services.
British Airways slashed fares as much as 80 per cent as of yesterday to stem the loss of passengers to low-cost rivals.
