Deadheaded with you guys last week in F Class. It was a great flight and really enjoyed the service. Your new uniform looks very nice. The stripes on the pilot's sleeves seem to be getting wider than before. It seems like they don't wear hats anymore, is it true?

Thanks Hart!
You're right, it is not mandatory for cockpit staff to wear their hat, but I think a pilot's uniform is incomplete without one!
About the stripes, I hadnt noticed they have become bigger, except of course the sfo's stripes who now has one bigger one and two slightly smaller ones, which they often complain about because they look very similar to the male head purser's stripes. images/icons/rolleyes.gif

Regarding hats in general... Maybe I'm very conservative, but find it really sophisticated when female cabin crew wear some kind of hat with their uniform. Looks great!
Hmm.. guess I'm not saying that everybody looks good in one though (speaking of experience from SAS here with our new baseball caps... lol)

I believe none of them wear theirs at the moment, because the "new" ones haven't arrived yet, and the "old" ones don't go well with the new uniform. No-one knows yet what the new hats will look like, but I suppose there won't be much of a change (how much scope for variation is there with pilot's hats?).
Adam, I agree! I love my "new" hat and wear it all the time. Unfortunately I seem to be almost alone by now... some 40% percent of the female FAs ordered hats (we had to pay for them ourselves... images/icons/frown.gif ), but the majority of them seem to have grown tired of them by now. Too bad - I think they're really smart, but it looks a bit silly if only one person in an all-female six-member crew wears one. When I'm the only one in the entire crew, I usually take mine off.

Oh, really.. That's a pity though! Normally looks so smart and it really emphasises the glamour (oh.. yeah, we love that!) from the 60s and 70s associated with the job...
Personally, I have to admit that I don't like wearing hats because it simply messes up my hair! Ouch! images/icons/wink.gif

Chiemsee: Nice place. Can you still get the train ride there?
Nixe: Are you the beautiful one - like the little mermaid in Copenhagen?
Hats not mandatory but is a jacket mandatory? Poor fellas!! I can't stand hot and humid weather. I'll smell like a skunk if I wear the jacket in the summer. graemlins/windsockdown_smilie.gif I don't really mind the hat when it is cold or raining since I don't have much hair left!! images/icons/grin.gif But it is too hot to wear in the summer for places like Hong Kong, Singapore, DFW, Miami.
