Media Advisory - Air Transat Flight Attendants Reject Contract Offer

TORONTO, Dec. 11 /CNW/ - Flight attendants at Air Transat have overwhelmingly voted down a tentative contract offer by the company. The tentative agreement was reached with the aid of a federal conciliation officer. The 1100 flight attendants are represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).

The union will be meeting in the days to come to establish a strike deadline. Under the Canada Labour Code a minimum of 72 hours must be given before a legal strike or lockout may commence.

Hello
I hope that the company will listen to our grievances before going on strike. :smile_2:

Considering that the airline business hasn't fully recoverd, I think a strike for the AT f/a's could be detrimental. Just look @ C3. Bankrupcy is NEVER impossible...especially for a charter airline. Just b/c AT survived the storm once, doesn't mean that it's invincable. I'm not trying to attack Transat, but I'm speaking from my own experience. I myself was with C3 for almost 3 years. I really miss it. I just wish you all luck in achieving what you want in your contract WITHOUT going on strike....b/c a strike could be detrimental
