The days of regulated air travel are an era gone by, and along with it was a culture that included many
very cool/special things that were inherent to it....

Such as.... (Please add your own item) Here's mine....

My Aunt told me about her crew which they all knew and stuck together like glue. It also included an
elderly woman who didn't have any family and was really not able to get by on social security.

So they adopted her....

Edna stayed with the F/A's at their base apartment, and went on flights as well. SHe took care of
laundry, did meals and kept the place up. But the best part was that she went with them a lot and got
to travel with them...

I'm not really sure that a family atmosphere is necessarily tied to regulation...I've seen it on some levels within my own airline and in other work situations. I'm sure the atmosphere definitely has changed since those days...but I think nice things still happen. :smile_2:

Those types of things probably happen less now simply for the fact that the companies are much bigger now than they were before deregulation. How many FA's and employees are on payroll now, on average, compared to the earlier days? I think, too, that when those things do happen, you really just don't know about it. I've known about some wonderful things that crewmembers have done for each other, but its generally on an intimate and personal level and might not make the company newsletter.
