CanJet Airlines expands fleet by 25%
ENFIELD, NS, Jan. 3 /CNW/ - Julie N. Gossen, Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer, CanJet Airlines, announced today that eastern Canada's original low-cost, discount airline has acquired its fifth Boeing 737-200 series aircraft. She said the aircraft arrived at CanJet's Halifax headquarters on December 4 and, since that time, it has been re-painted in the airline's livery by IMP Aerospace, re-configured internally and has undergone a comprehensive maintenance program before entering the airline's fleet.
Jim Penwell, CanJet Airlines Director of Maintenance, stated, "The newest addition to our fleet, a sister ship to the airline's other four aircraft, was previously operated by US Airways and CanJet." He went on to say that the aircraft, which operates under the registration letters C-FJCJ, is configured to 120 seats and is equipped with the same engines (JT8D-9A with Nordam Stage Three Hush Kits) as the other four CanJet planes. He said, "The new aircraft has been operating in the fleet and I am pleased to say it has performed flawlessly".
Ms. Gossen stated, "The acquisition of this fifth Boeing 737 presents an opportunity for CanJet to pursue new domestic and charter route opportunities while permitting us to quickly recover our scheduled flying pattern in the event of any mechanical glitches with the other four aircraft. This acquisition is a positive indicator for both our customers and our employees".
CanJet Airlines is a division of IMP Group Limited, Halifax, Nova Scotia, one of Canada's largest aviation and aerospace companies. The airline provides low fare scheduled service to seven destinations in Eastern and Central Canada as well as St. Petersburg, Florida with Boeing 737 aircraft.
