Jetsgo's December load factor climbs to 78%
Expanded schedule, new routes mark new year
New York service begins Jan. 9
MONTREAL, Jan. 7 /CNW/ - Jetsgo reported strong traffic statistics for December 2002, flying 52,551,491 Revenue Passenger Miles (RPMs) on 67,366,080 Available Seat Miles (ASMs). This represents a load factor of 78%, an increase over November's 69.3%.
"These numbers are excellent and in line with our expectations for this busy travel season," said Michel Leblanc, president of Jetsgo. "With the bulk of holiday travel occurring in December, we are pleased that more and more travelers are choosing Jetsgo for leisure and business trips."
The new year is poised to be another period of growth for Jetsgo as it continues to add new destinations and increase existing service. A seventh daily Montreal-Toronto roundtrip flight will be added Jan. 13, bringing further flexibility to travel between Canada's business centres. This new schedule will have flights leaving in both directions at least every two hours during peak morning and afternoon business travel times.
Also, service between Toronto and New York is set to start Jan. 9. A Sunday afternoon departure is now available to supplement the previously announced twice-daily weekday flights. In addition, Toronto-Charlottetown service will begin Feb. 5.
December saw the launch of well-received Jetsgo service between Toronto and Timmins, Ont., and popular routes to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., from Montreal and Toronto.
"With the delivery of our sixth plane last month, we will continue to look at opportunities to better serve existing routes, as well as explore new markets to enter," said Leblanc.
Headquartered in Montreal with 250 employees, Jetsgo offers discount air service to nine Canadian destinations including Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax. Service to the United States is to New York and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
