In advance of the YVR Meeting, I'd like to get information on good places to visit, eat, and hang out from you who have been there or live there. Also any weather information (typical conditions) for the time we will meet would be most helpful. :smile_2:

As always, if you have hotel information, please don't post it here. Instead, send it to me via PM, and I'll get it to everyone planning to attend from out of town.

Well, I don't have weather conditions for March, but I do have the environment Canada link for current conditions:
http://weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/scripts/citygen.pl?client=ECCDN_e&city=YVR
It even converts it to degrees F for our American visitors.

As for things to do, sights to see....Stanley Park, and walking up and down the following streets: Davie, Denman, Robson - link it with Granville and you've got a square route of several miles. Also - Davie = Gay village and neat restaurants (HoHo's...cheap chinese but ohsogood, Luxy's is not too $ great atmosphere, good food, a few gay bars - Numbers, PumpJacks, Oasis - great martini bar), Denman = Gay but also funky (there is a shop that sells CUPCAKES! mMMMMMmmm), Robson = shopping, restaurants and coffee shops (intersection of Thurlow and Robson, TWO Starbucks are kittycorner to each other). Also, downtown there's the Vancouver Art Gallery, right accross from the Provincial courthouse garden area. Hmmmm.....English Bay beach is a perfect place to go and watch the sun set....Yaletown is a great area for funky older buildings and neat shops...and Granville island Market is a great place to go and kill an afternoon....food, arts shops (I got to see glass being blown...neat), and you can also rent kayaks to take around False creek. That's about all I can think of for now...Oh, also in other posts I've mentioned the Elbow Room cafe...it's a greasy spoon type diner, but with a difference - they don't take any sh** from their customers, and if you try to dish it to them they serve it back to you nice and steamy.

Here is the information on restaurants in YVR that JetBoy found for us for our meeting. I hope it is helpful to you. :smile_2:

- Boathouse Restaurant, English Bay, 1795 Beach Drive, 604-669-2225

It has a great view of the ocean, and in terms of atmosphere, it is a bit more dressy.

- Cardero's Restaurant, Seafood, and Marina Grill, 1583 Coal Harbour Quay, 604-669-7666

Located at one end of Denman Street, it has a view of the snow-covered mountains, the ocean, and North Vancouver. It's expensive, but good.
- Oritalia Restaurant, 567 Hornsby Street, 604-689-8862

It's located in one of the hotels downtown. Very dressy, sort of upscale, more expensive, and has no view.

- Pepitas Restaurant (Mexican Cuisine), 203-1184 Denman Street, 604-669-4736

It has the best view of the ocean and the sunset. There is live music and dancing starting at 7 PM. It has a relaxed atmosphere. Great location for a walk on the beach after dinner. Very affordable, and is located on the other end of Denman Street.

- Tanpopo Restaurant (Jampanese Cuisine), 1122 Denman Street, 604-681-7777

It has an outdoor heated patio and the food is great, but no view.
